🥡 it’s a three day weekend in my world, and I thought, why not? Today is finally the day I’m gonna go into Manhattan and check out one of the Lilli and Loo locations. My fellow celiac gluten-free influencer peeps have been talking about this place for so long. Coincidentally, the OG one is right near my aunts apartment and I had no idea until recently lol. But I ended up going to the one that’s newer, in Chelsea. My celiac soul smiled so brightly yesterday the staff were so kind, and seated me in this adorable little window nook seat, where I could sit while I’m waiting for my food and people watch the Manhattan streets, which is everything to me. I opted for a lychee, Prosecco sake cocktail, which was so good, not too sweet, not too sour the pan fried gluten-free pork dumplings took me back to when I could actually eat gluten filled dumplings with my family either at Chinese restaurants in Connecticut or in Chinatown here in Manhattan those dumplings were a life-changing experience, best gluten-free dumplings I’ve ever had. I really wanted to try lo mein too as I haven’t had an actual authentic domain in so many years and I have very distinct memories of getting lo mein at certain places in Westport CT, where I grew up, where it had a very distinct flavor. The flavor profile was spot on. I was maybe hoping for some more vegetables in it and was hoping that the noodles weren’t cut up already and I could twirl the lo mein, but it was absolutely delicious. The server recommended I try some of the other dishes on the menu like tangerine beef, Szechuan, spicy beef, and oriental noodles. I’ll have to try those at a future visit to my celiac friends, you must come to the city and go to either location either on the upper east side or Chelsea and experience this Chinese food deliciousness.
