POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hey Lovers...want to undoubtable the most interesting person in the library/indie coffee shop this season? Stick one of our lovingly designed stickers on that maximalist collage you call a laptop!

Few months ago I (Rose) reached out to @lilsun.draws to commission a sticker based on my interpretation of Zarathustrian angels. I could not image how awesome they would turn out!

Recently I wanted to create PWYC/free events. Fundraising is big part of MTT but so is coming together and exchanging our creative work an languages in a comfortable space without financial barriers.

These stickers are meant as our way to give back to those who wanted to give more to our meaningful causes. Thank you and we see you.

Our hearts are full as we reflect on this recent community event as part of the Toronto Food Stories artist residency: Unearthing Stories of Food Justice.

In partnership with @malvernfrc, @nfucanada, @lilsun.draws and @tplmalvernyouth at Malvern Library, the event was a celebration of storytelling, farming, and art.

Powerful films highlighted the journeys of Canadian farmers, exploring themes of food sovereignty and community through stories of Indigenous resurgence and regenerative farming practices.

Following the film screening, a panel discussion took place spotlighting local farmers Sumathy Thankan, Jennifer Forde, and Hermmela Tafesse, who spoke about their experiences with accessing and growing food and how farming has given them new ways of relating to the community and themselves.

Finally, the event featured the launch of artist resident Sun's @lilsun.draws zine, 'Eating is Hard, Food Sovereignty is a Journey,' a piece that explores food joy and their relationship to food.

Thank you so much to all who made this event happen and those who joined us 💚 We can't wait for the next one!

It's hard to believe that the Toronto Food Stories art residency has come to an end.

Over the past year, Toronto Food Stories has connected artists and local organizers to share the stories of the people and movements that are transforming our food system and bringing us closer to realizing the right to food in our city.

We're reflecting on the past year of community, collaboration, creativity and advocacy in our recent blog post. Check it out: https://foodshare.net/2024/07/toronto-food-stories-an-art-residency/ (blog link in bio)

Thank you so much to all of the artists, food workers, community groups and community members who came together to make this project possible. 💚

I’ll be at Friends House (60 Lowther Ave) on Saturday! With @lilsun.draws stuff too! Zines and buttons and ceramics!

‘Chris (they/them) is an art adventurer whose work celebrates and explores their joy and not joy through zines, clay, and being silly! Chris hopes to share, find, and grow belonging and community through their art practice. They like to help create opportunities for artists to be engaged with each other and to support each other. ‘
