Shout out to all the hair + make up artists from this year’s weddings that do their thing for the bride and bridesmaids before the day even starts. Their day can sometimes start as easy as 4am, which always blows my mind to hear.

I usually get there once they’re finished, but on the odd occasion where we get to meet, it’s always a pleasure to witness them at work 😮‍💨

PACIFIC RUNWAY

My high school self wouldn’t believe me if I told her we’d one day get to be apart of the @pacificrunway, yet here we are. What has always struck me about this runway is the intention to honour our Pacific traditions, but also innovate and pave new paths for our people through art, design, and storytelling. From the first step onto the runway, to rehearsals, to backstage and behind the scenes you can feel the mana and mafana released into the streets of Campbelltown. Decorating space with breathtaking beauty, and time with an energy that captivates.

What an honour to do so with Lavashe Couture, and the brilliant mind of Tito Stowers. He says that he doesn’t just want pretty faces or models to be adorned in his creations - but role models. I stand among such wonderful and multifaceted women who are breaking moulds and stereotypes in human trafficking, science, pageantry, and motherhood. Women whose outward beauty reflect their inner light in the world. Thank you Tito for showcasing such real and inspiring stories and designs, and for building such a beautiful family behind the scenes. It is a privilege to model “Foai” ✨

By the Pacific >•< For the Pacific

What a weekend spent celebrating our Pacific people and how beautiful, talented, generous, passionate, artistic, charismatic, empathetic, intelligent, and wholesome they are!

While in Sydney last weekend I had the opportunity to walk for @lavashecouture and Tito Stowers at the illustrious @pacificrunway pop-up for the Feast of Nations Festival in @campbelltowncity. Cultivated by the master mind, @jannike.larae, who has housed and nurtured a space of Pacifika pride and excellence. What a dream to be apart of!

The @pasifikaindigenous community held a fundraiser event called, The Pacific Rising. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, and anticipation grew at the thought of growth for our cultures, lively performance, and Pasifika artistry. Tito used his stunning designs to shed light on issues such as climate change, but also be a voice for the voiceless on domestic violence. Championing survivors and emboldening them to share their stories.

Back in Brisbane, the night was alight at Pasifika Made, a festival that showcased how multifaceted our people are! Produced by @queeniepelesa, @alofamamea, and the team behind @brisbanefestival, the event brought together the best of the Islands, celebrating Papua New Guinea’s jubilee year of Independence. Weaving performances and spaces to learn and reflect on how we can Honour Our Past, and Transform Our Future together.

My cup is overflowing with love and pride for our island homes 🤍 thank you Jesus!
