The “shortcut” to achieving results will always require time, effort, and consistency.

Everyone wants to achieve results as quickly as possible with minimal effort. Having this approach is what is preventing you from actually making progress, and you need to accept that.

That shortcut you’re looking for will always be the one that requires time, effort, and consistency. It shouldn’t matter how long it will take to make the change and achieve the results. What matters is how productive you are during that time, how much effort you put it, and how consistent you are.

If you truly want to change, quit looking for a shortcut.

What competing has taught me 👇🏻

Tomorrow marks 6 years since I stepped on stage for the first time (left). I weighed just under 150lbs. The photos on the right are from my most recent show in April 2025 at 181lbs.

I remember being nervous and excited walking out for the first time — and I’ll be honest, I don’t think I was ready. I wasn’t big enough and part of me knew it. But I did it anyway. And I’m proud of that.

Even looking at my most recent stage photos I still don’t think I was fully ready. But I came in the leanest I have ever been and brought the best physique of my life. That means something.

What most people don’t see behind these photos is a kid who grew up underweight, always skinny, always struggling with how he saw himself in the mirror, and had no confidence. Body dysmorphia is real and I have dealt with it for most of my life. Some days I still do.

But I am learning. Learning to appreciate what my body has built, to be grateful for my health, and to recognize that progress is not always visible in the moment — sometimes you only see it when you look back.

5 years. 30+ pounds of muscle. A lot of hard work. And a long way to go.

Nobody sees the work behind the work.

The late nights. The slow months. The moments where you question whether any of it is worth it. The days where the vision is clear and the days where everything feels impossible.

Building something from nothing is one of the hardest things a person can do. And doing it while being a husband and a father — that is a different level entirely.

Here is what I have learned though. The days I show up the best — for my wife, for my daughter, for my clients — are the days I have taken care of myself first. My sleep. My nutrition. My body.

Not because I am selfish. Because I cannot pour from an empty cup.

When my bloodwork is optimized, my energy is real. When my nutrition is dialed in, my mind is sharp. When I am physically taking care of myself, I am emotionally present for the people who need me most.

This is why I do what I do. Not just for the business. Not just for the clients.

For them.

If you are a parent trying to build something while showing up for your family — your health is not separate from that mission. It is the foundation of it.

Take care of your body. It is the only one you have — and the people who love you need you at your best.

9 years ago I had my shoulder rebuilt.

I separated my AC joint (grade 5) while playing soccer. I was sprinting full speed when the opposing keeper took me out, causing me to flip in the air and land straight down onto my shoulder.

I remember clearly lying in the hospital bed the night I got the x-ray and seeing how bad the injury was. Then again after the procedure and being told I may never be able to use my arm the same way again. I was scared and frustrated that this had happened to me.

Now, 9 years later, my left arm is stronger than it was before the reconstruction.

The crazy thing is that this injury is what led to me becoming a health coach and a bodybuilder. Once I cleared to do my physical therapy, I decided to use that moment as a “reset”, and focus on getting stronger and healthier, and I am forever thankful that I made that decision.

Don’t let an injury define what happens to you. Take the proper steps to rehab and strengthen your body and watch how much better you feel.

People eating 200–500g of carbs a day, enjoying fats, and not stressing over “bad foods”…

…are often the leanest, healthiest, and most consistent in the gym. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Why?
•
Because they understand balance and nutrition. Meanwhile, others demonize foods but still overconsume and lack accountability. The problem isn’t carbs, fats, or fast food—
it’s your habits.
👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽
Stop labeling foods.
Start managing your intake.

Only 4% of cancer survivors fully adhere to healthy lifestyle guidelines. Why is that the case?

A national survey of 2,000 cancer patients and survivors showed that the number one barrier to adhering to some type of healthy living program is exhaustion. Nearly 6 in 10 survivors (across all stages of disease and treatment status) reported that lack of energy is the biggest obstacle to healthy living.

Aside from exhaustion, things like physical limitations, motivation, and cost are major factors. If cancer-related fatigue is high, motivation to get up and move or meal prep can be low and make it difficult to get daily tasks done. Cost can be a barrier to be able to afford access to exercise programs and nutritional programs, especially for many survivors navigating medical bills and expenses.

If you’ve been struggling to eat well, exercise, or just getting back to feeling like yourself again, remember that it’s okay. This just means your body is still recovering and needing to ease back into everything.

This is why personalized health and nutrition programs are not one-size-fits-all, and should be created around each individual. To learn more about how we can help you to navigate these challenges, click the link in bio or go to www.purebalancecancer.com to schedule your free consultation.

Quitting when things get hard doesn’t protect you from what you’re needing to improve on.

The moments that feel the most challenging are usually the ones that matter most. The workouts you don’t feel like doing. The meals you don’t want to prep or eat. The habits that take effort. The days when motivation is low. Learning to be consistent and not perfect.

That’s where change actually happens.

If you quit every time it gets uncomfortable, you stay exactly where you are. But when you keep showing up, even imperfectly, you build resilience, confidence, and momentum.

Progress isn’t built on the easy days.
It’s built on the days you wanted to stop but didn’t.

Stay consistent. Keep moving forward.
