Aya Yamanaka @ayayamanaka_ Exhibition "Stitched up" 1/10より、BREATH BY DELTAにて、Aya Yamanaka による2度目のエキジビション「Stitched up」を開催します。

KAGE TO HIKARI　影と光 Tomo Kishida × T.T Sakiori Project Vol.2 2025.03.29 – 04.06 Gion T.T 570-120Gionmachi,Minamigawa, Higashiyama, Kyoto 寒冷な東北の地で生まれた技術、裂織。 Sakiori, a technique born in the cold lands of Tohoku, Japan. In the past, people would tear worn-out fabrics and unwanted clothing and weave them anew. Today, Tomo Kishida continues the tradition of sakiori, finding its essence in the spirituality embedded in the act itself. “There is energy and beauty in the earnest endeavor to endure the cold,” Kishida says. However, in today’s world, clothing is produced in excess, consumed, and discarded at an alarming rate. What, then, is the meaning of practicing sakiori in modern times? Torn apart and rewoven, the fabric undergoes more than mere restoration, it becomes an act of preserving memory. Through this process, Kishida continues to weave the Japanese aesthetic sensibilities that have been cherished for generations.
