🪑📹 Backrooms (wool bases) 🟨🪜

A sickly and tarnished, chartreuse-tinged yellow-green that depicts the dimly lit depths of the damp and dingy wallpapers in the evocative film “Backrooms.” What was once a pale, buttery mustard has become visibly unwell and stained with the gritty gray-brown of the shadowy unknown. You can almost hear the hum of fluorescent lighting, and the faint sound of approaching footsteps…

This colorway is a love letter to “Backrooms,” my favorite film of this year, as well as an ode to Kane Parsons and his original YouTube series, where the wallpaper is a more saturated and acidic mono-greenish-yellow.

• On superwash bases: the chartreuse has a little more punch and the shadows are more defined

• On non-superwash bases: the yellows and greens are hazy and shifty

• On yak bases: the whole colorway shifts to a swampy, acrid moss green

〰️〰️〰️〰️

“Backrooms” takes place in the early ‘90s, and follows Clark (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) a struggling furniture-store owner working through the fallout of his marriage, when he discovers that his store’s basement conceals a portal to an endless, extradimensional maze of empty rooms and hallways. His therapist Mary (played by Renate Reinsve) sets out to find him when he disappears, only to enter the unsettling realm of the Backrooms herself.

What makes this film Liminal?
This film is built directly on the “Backrooms” creepypasta, the original source of the “liminal space” term, which makes it one of the most representative films of a liminal space. 💛 The Backrooms are depicted as a vast, seemingly endless extra-dimensional maze of empty rooms, reachable only by slipping outside the boundaries of ordinary reality. It transforms the familiar fear of empty, dull, fluorescent-lit office corridors into a literal, physical dimension you can be trapped in. That’s scary! Also, watch out for any entities that reside there… ⚠️

The Liminal Anthology Preorder Portal opens this Sunday September 20 at 6PM PT and closes at midnight October 11 🕰️🌀

🎶Sometimes, I wish I was smart
I wish I made cures for
How people are
I wish I had power
I wish I could lead
I wish I could change the world
For you and me🎶
