@limitlessqueerfashionshow may 2025 ~ y’all we did that🥹🥹🥹

little background ~ for me, clothes are spiritual/erotic/queer expressions of my life force, BIG TIME. growing up, i was a little chubsters momo who felt so dissociated. my girl jeans and blouses made me feel gender dysphoric and even boys basketball shorts reminded me that i had these dam hips. when i could finallyyy dress in clothes that fit (men’s clothes with everything cut for my short king body), i found my spirit changed and i walked with pride for the first time.

i started THE GAY AREA because it gives me deep purpose to see queer and trans folks put on their armor and feel powerful and sexyyy in their adornment. when our natural right to gender expression is especially precious, the chance for someone to feel both powerful and soft in their clothing is a gift.

in the beginning of this show, i had sweet conversations asking the models “what clothes makes you feel powerful in your body?”. to hear people say some days a corset some days levi’s, to small top big pants, to leather skirts and chains, yooo queer people have such beautiful range of expression and intentionality. queer fashion is so much more than a caribeaner.

this show was one of my dreams. i’m so grateful to aja, tamir, tristan, tee, camryn, and glow who said yes to wearing my clothes and then walked with such BEAUTY. this crew + yani the organizer + ari my magical assistant + my amazing friendssss + everyone else who made the show possible had me endlessly thankful to have this opportunity.

the clothing pieces all honor stories of collective liberation and the resistance movements behind them ~ they include stories of queers in Gaza detailing what it’s like to be in love during a genocide, as well as an ode to Queen Lili’uokalani, the last reigning monarch in Hawai’i who used non-violent resistance to fight the US empire, and many more stories for another post ^.^

thanks for witnessing this dream coming true y’all! big hugs. (blue) love, momo
