The process is where the real story lives.

Creative direction isn’t about controlling every detail—it’s about bringing them together until they speak the same language.

This carousel is a look into the process behind the project: the moodboard, the hair and makeup references, the styling, and the evolution of an idea into something tangible.

Because the final image is only the last chapter of a much longer story.

The material was never the point. 🤍

When resources are limited, imagination becomes your greatest tool.

What interests me most isn’t the material itself—it’s the emotion it creates.

The sharp silhouette. The movement. The tension between fragility and strength.

I believe good design isn’t defined by what something is made of, but by what it makes people feel.

And if you’re wondering: this dress was made from black trash bags.

A look behind the scenes of my short film Tides of Freedom which I’ve written, directed and produced 🎬The film continues its journey with multiple festival selections. I’m proud of the nominations and wins so far and deeply grateful for the great team that made this possible ❤️‍🔥 More exciting news coming soon.

Tides of Freedom is a raw, intimate portrait of identity and belonging, set against untamed inner and outer landscapes. Blending the vitality of nature with the complexity of human existence, it captures the fragile balance between joy, freedom, survival, and the unseen forces that shape us.

Glad to share excerpts from my recent interview with Curation Hour, featuring my reflections on my short film Tides of Freedom, which I wrote, directed, edited, and produced.
‘Berlin-based filmmaker Claudia Malecka’s Tides of Freedom is a poetic exploration of self-discovery, blending dreamlike visuals with real emotion. With a multicultural background spanning Germany, Poland, and Italy, Malecka brings a unique perspective to her artistic work, often exploring the emotional interplay between strength and vulnerability’ (Curation Hour)

Thanks to the team who made this work possible 🤍 Further publications and insights follow soon.
