⚡️Last stretch of Against Resolution at MX. The four installations are still running through Sunday, together with two video works by Erik Bünger on loop. So if you feel like getting out and seeing something a little less predictable in Timișoara, there are still four days left.

⚡️Alex Deak’s MX / breath turns the former tram depot into a 12-channel instrument, with sound shifting as you move through the space.

⚡️ Mădălina Ciocanu’s Răsărituri în formare starts with something as ordinary as sitting around, cracking sunflower seeds, and follows the stories, memories and bits of information that travel with the gesture.

⚡️ Vlad Hodrea’s magnum apus moves through incantations, ornithomancy and disappearing forms of Romanian folk magic.

⚡️ Marginal’s Techno-natural Mutations puts technology in much less obedient situations: feeding off leftover urban energy, watching systems fail, and asking how much clarity all that machinery really gives us.

⚡️ Also on loop: Erik Bünger’s The Mime and the Ape / Nature See You — voice, language and the strange business of trying to speak for a world that doesn’t speak back in quite the same way.

⚡️ Night one of Against Resolution, in motion.

Installations across the old tram depot, sparks, plasma speakers, tin cans, DIY circuits, bad robots and thermo-acoustic tubes with @dirtyelectronics & @tim4shaw, followed by @noemibuchi’s Exuvie with Brigitte Fässler and Rebeka Mondovics.

A few traces from the opening of SIMULTAN XXI at MX.

We’re back today with the program running late into the night. See you there?

This year, SIMULTAN returns to MX with Against Resolution, an edition asking what gets lost when everything is made clearer, smoother and easier to resolve.

Four installations stay close to what escapes that logic: knowledge carried through voices and repetition, sound changed by bodies moving through space, memories accumulating in ordinary gestures, and technologies becoming increasingly difficult to separate from the living systems around them.

👀 A few clues before we open the doors of the former tram depot. Opening with SIMULTAN XXI on 24 September, the installations remain at MX through 4 October.

> In Techno-natural Mutations, @marginal.ro brings together works by Lorena Cocora @lorenacocora & Alexandra Costea @_astris and Miguel Teodoro @miguel___teodoro. One imagines a technological ecosystem surviving on the energy a city continuously wastes; the other follows the pigeon through histories of communication, surveillance, military logistics and urban life.

> With @linii_sonore — From Avant-Garde to Immersive, Alex Deak @f_v_n_g_v_m brings Iannis Xenakis’ ideas about sound and space into the former tram depot. His 12-channel installation MX / breath changes as visitors move through it, turning the architecture itself into part of the work.

> _magnum apus_ by Vlad Hodrea @hodreaz listens for something harder to hold onto: charms, birds, folk magic and forms of knowledge passed from mouth to mouth, asking what we still recognise as knowledge, and what we’ve learned to dismiss as noise.

> And in Răsărituri în formare, Mădălina Ciocanu @bors.beets starts with the everyday ritual of cracking sunflower seeds. The shells left behind become traces of conversations, memories and phrases that travel from one person to another and, sometimes, take root.

A monochrome live performance for a mono-synth. Bucharest-based experimental musician and visual artist Alex Deak presents a live performance built around a monophonic synthesizer, granular atmospheres and structures inspired by the composer and architect Iannis Xenakis, whose work brought mathematics, architecture and sound into the same field.

The set is connected to Deak’s ongoing project Sound Lines — From Avant-Garde to Immersive, which revisits Xenakis through sound, space and new media. Deak is also the sound architect and conceptual coordinator of the avant-garde industrial project FRIG, and works with electronic sound through @f_v_n_g_v_m

On 26 September, that research takes a live form at SIMULTAN XXI.

The related installation @linii_sonore MX / breath — a 12-channel interactive work in which sound responds to visitors moving through the former tram depot — can be experienced at MX from 24 September to 4 October.
