We are honored to win the 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 award🥈in the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 category at the 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗿𝘆 𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 2026! 🙏

Shout out to @valentijn_goethals and the many talented young designers who are such a vital part of our organization. This award is a celebration of a collaborative way of working and the structural space we create for design within our daily operations.

Big congratulations to tussenruimte @draganmarinkovich 🥇, and to @corbinmahieu & @victorverhelst 🥉 for their well-deserved wins.

••••••••••

The jury on Kunsthal Gent:

“The strength of this graphic identity lies in providing a stage for a new generation of creators. Despite the great diversity of contributions, and space for experimentation, the message remains clear and consistent. Kunsthal Gent’s identity is dynamic and constantly evolving: building on experience gained by preceding talent. As a result, both the institution and its audience evolve alongside it.”

@henryvandeveldeawards
#KunsthalGent
#GraphicDesign

𖡎 Join us for online gatherings around the project 𝘋𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘺, 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𖥾 ༘

Send a line to glasgowseedlibrary@cca-glasgow.com to get the zoom link 𖣢

This research and artistic production project centres on anti-ableist and queercrip dailiness, communal gardening and seed-saving practices unfolding, thickening, twisting, getting stuck, and seeping through the cracks of the inflamed, disabling world. It connects the northern latitudes of Finland and Scotland and disperses beyond them to discuss, in the words of Dr Emily May Armstrong, how phytocrip resistance has been and might yet flash out.

Initiated by Anastasia (A) Alevtin, the project brings together the expertise and personal experience of transdisciplinary artists, microbiologists, and community gardeners from the orbits of Glasgow Seed Library, Light-harvesting Complex, and its friends. All collectively work with bodies, seeds, plants, growing, eating, waiting, access-ing, and a concept of dormancy.

In public perception, dormancy appears to be a passive process, but a gardener, a migrant, an artist, bodies that require slower or otherwise nonnormative paces due to chronic exhaustion, ill health and neurodivergence, or a microbiologist knows it is a complex kind of individual and communal activity. Dormancy needs careful tending, and our Spring study group is a primer that focuses on establishing a critical and creative space that imagines how this tending might happen.

The group culminates with a collectively written phytocrip manifesto that mulches all the thoughts & affects accumulated, and emerges imprint in collaboration with @paolajalili & @linneaari 🪻🏚️ with a launch event at the greenhouse at the end of May ☘️

💰 The project is supported by @fininst_uk_ireland & @taikegram

Slowly beginning to process sticky lumps of labour politics, social suffocation, migrations, whiterness, quiet solidarities and what waiting, buckets, and urobilin might have to do with that. 🧽🧻🚽🛟🚢

Processing in the most generous, playful and punchy company of Camille Auer @cimallecamille ☄️ and Joni Judén aka jiijii & nurtured by the unicorns of TUO TUO Arts @tuotuoarts 🧄🦔 and @emergingora 🪽Kaitlyn D. Hamilton.

This iteration of “terminal socialities” began to brew in 2020, rehearsed its contours during @newperformanceturku 2023, and now spilt onto the screen — with Camille’s signature frames and Joni’s attentive sounds and readiness to excavate ambivalent affects.

Thank you Satu Herrala @satelliteorbus 🪐 for listening to me read and edit live that first raw performance script on the slippery steps at Oodi ~

Thank you Saskia Suominen @suosaskia 🌤️ for giving me your brave helping hand for NPT 2023 ~

Thank you Rowan Lear @rowanlear for thinking with me about one's chest bones and calcium carbonate 🪨🐚

Thank you Linnea Lindgren @linneaari 🌞 for your attunement to all the objects and textures that now sit together on our urobilin yellow poster ~

Thank you everybody who came to see and chat about the first edit we shared during @urban_apa residency at Outo olo 🎪

Thank you dear @yvonnebillimore & @gardening_otherwise for giving me home while this piece was in the making 🫖🏠

Beginning to make sense of how to tend to dormancies at the age of total social, politico-material inflammation & how to learn refusal from vigorously dormant seeds and seed-savers. And no, not dormancy as a passive process, but, as a gardener, a seed-saver, an artist, a microbiologist, or a chronically sick bodymind know, dormancy as a complex kind of individual and communal activity that’s disruptive, unapologetic, effectively cranky about its material milieux ~

Thinking-making between the two dormancies I know intimately: as a chronically sick bodymind that nurtures their chronic inflammation into dormancy & as an occasional gardener who tends to anti-inflammatory seeds and plants into cyclical sleep and awakening ~ Dreaming of an anti-inflammatory community garden & holding dear my grandmothers' life-saving herbal wisdoms ~

There will be a performance, there will be written words, there will be reading and listening while enjoying a communal meal, there will be wee envelops going places with seeds & stories ~

Working on a queercrip schedule & with the most generously radical Glasgow Seed Library @glasgowseedlib and Light-harvesting Complex @lightharvestingcomplex, with my hearths Rowan Lear @rowanlear and Sara Blosseville @gueule2raie, with old and new friends and comrades who I'll sneak here in a minute, across the northern latitudes of Turku, Vantaa, and Glasgow, and, and, and ~

The berriest Linnea Lindgren @linneaari and Paola Jalili @paolajalili are taking care of the printed matters ~
