Today marks the one year anniversary of Near From Goose Town - it is blessed by this beautiful art by dear friend James, who crafted this after the release at Andy Hawxwell’s Candlelight night at Quay West Studios
What a magic journey these songs have been on and they sure would not have made it so far without the love and support of the threadsnakes - friends - goosefolk - family - you know who you are beyond photos!!

The year starts a new - DONKEY SONGS ALBUM 2 - to be released Autumn 2027 🫏 🫏 There is a sneak peek video of me walking Freya the title track in my bio xx 12 songs have been recorded already and I am collecting some birthday pennies to help transform them it into vinyl - Let us keep creating physical music in this harsh as a bustle brush world

I love these women (and Spiro!) and love this program! Another incredible residency in California with @vcfaedu! I always leave feeling inspired and motivated to write (which is good, because I already have two documents due).

July 1. Halfway around the loop ! Here are the standouts so far.

A martini club. Saturday morning pickleball. That Big Sur trip I keep referencing. The songs friends have released. An unexpected moment on a podium. A long wave at Leo. Meals under the lemon tree. Voice messages back and forth. A friend’s tip for getting chicken thighs crispy. Oysters. Neighborhood wildlife. I’m sure there are more. But these are the ones that came to mind and now it’s time to work.

Yes, the peaks/valleys of the day-to-day certainly have kept me on my toes but feeling grateful for these steadiers. Hoping to hold onto em for the 2nd half!

Portland! @hannamhaas and I are coming up this weekend to visit @linseabeth, and because we want to hear each other’s songs and see our friends, we’re throwing a songwriter-in-the-round hang that will transition into just a hang hang on Saturday eve. Justin Power (@therememory) is playing too and he writes beautiful songs.

The last photo is the location, Justin’s place in North Portland. I stayed there last time I was in town. Big windows looking out at the Willamette. Worth coming just to see the way the light comes in. Hope to see some of my PNW buds. 💛 Partiful in my bio.

Two days into 26, dust still settling, but here’s my list, non-comprehensive ofc, of the routines and rarities of this last lap around the sun.

Watched my big sister get married in a deli.
Turned a nine-day trip to Mexico into six weeks.
Played shows up and down and around the country.
Circled the turtle pond at Debs more times than I can count.
Dove the Great Barrier Reef.
Saw the Southern Lights !
Wound up with a last-minute invite to the Tonys.
Summited big rocks in the Sierras.
Made snowballs in Central Park.
Watched a drag queen dressed as Ben Franklin sing Chappell Roan in my backyard to celebrate my friend from Colombia gaining her citizenship.
Busted my lip.
Got punctured by an urchin spine.
Still didn’t get barreled.
Started a new record.
Met some truly wonderful people.
Had many ears lent my way — not just for the songs, but the in-between stuff too.

If someone had read me this list at the start of the year, I would’ve looked back with double-exclamation-point eyes. Still interpreting, but gratitude feels like a good place to land.
