OPTIMO and Friends - Day Into Night at Standard Time!

Join us for an epic Sunday afternoon from 4pm - ??? as we celebrate all things OPTIMO with you and all your friends.

Optimo (Espacio) was founded by JD Twitch and JG Wilkes who in a partnership forged over 28 years, have become globally renowned for their memorable and ecstatic deejay sets - exhibiting a unique disregard for genres and musical restrictions within their craft. Optimo strikes out into territories far beyond the accepted boundaries of club music.

The final essential ingredient to the Optimo success is of course the people. Each Optimo set is different, teased out of the dynamics of a singular group of people - whether it be a tiny basement sweat-box, the main room of a super club, the main stage of a festival or a thousand people in a field. Everything springs from the spirit of the gathering and the rhythm of the moment. It is the unique enthusiasm of each crowd, where ever Optimo goes , that gives inspiration – and feeds the joy in what Optimo has become. “We Love Your Ears!”

Lauren Hell, Craigslist, Andrew Ross and Linus Booth will be kicking off the festivities in true Optimo spirit - join us!

Tickets now available - link in Standard Time’s bio.

Sunday, November 8th - doors 4pm.

This is episode 100 of our radio show, no small feat and we’ve decided to play songs from our catalog to celebrate. 💯 🥳

There’s a lot of material, and we’ve devised a simple strategy to make it easier to navigate — we’re moving backwards in time, from our last release to our first, although we only touch on 11 albums in this episode. 🎢

As some of you may have noticed, our label has been on hiatus for the better part of a year, while Naomi and I are finishing up graduate studies and raising a family. We’re not sure exactly what the future holds for the label, but we’re keeping the future open. 🔮

Biggest love to all who joined us on our journey. 💚

Last night opening for my friend @thegyptianlover was epic. Special thanks to @chl0ejay and @linusbooth for inviting me to be a part of Toronto history! Also I finally got to play with @maximumexposureinc after admiring his work for some time! The sold out crowd was full of smiles and glee. For me it was a mixture of both old and new friends. Toronto shows once more the excitement that people have for Egyptian Lover. Thanks to all who came💕 #egyptianlover #electro #torontoelectroscene

IR :: Indigenous Resistance is pleased to announce the launch of our new album IR 80 Searching For The Dub Sublime, the first in a series of audio soundtracks to the IR 61 book of the same name. In fact, those who obtain the entire album on Bandcamp will receive a PDF of this 280-page, richly illustrated, full-colour book as a bonus item.

This album was recorded in numerous locations around the world: Burkina Faso, Uganda, Egypt, Colombia, Mexico, Mongolia, UK, and Turtle Island. This range reflects the IR principle of outernationalism.

The lyrical content of IR 80 addresses the ongoing genocide in Gaza, Palestine as well as Sudan, Congo, and West Papua, while taking anti-colonial inspiration from the Burkina Faso revolutionary Thomas Sankara; Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish and his friend, the academic Edward Walid Said; and John Trudell, the Santee Dakota poet and chairperson of the American Indian Movement (AIM).

These thoughts and feelings are expressed in multiple languages: French, Spanish, Arabic, Swahili, Dioula, and English. They are also presented using aspects of roots reggae, jungle, industrial techno, and more. These differences are unified in dub attitude: defy the political and stylistic boundaries created by Babylon! Let us multiply the dub!
