Two perfect albums. Then they vanished.

Jellyfish might be the most underrated band of the ‘90s. Bellybutton made musicians lose their minds, and Spilt Milk is the most expensive-sounding power pop record ever made. It sounds like Queen and the Beach Boys in a blender. They still never became stars.

I even reached out to some of the guys to see if they’d get back together. One can only hope

Taylor Momsen sat down with me for the new episode of Lipps Service. She told me about getting bit by a bat on stage in Seville while opening for AC/DC, the rabies shots that followed, and why AI will never write a Pretty Reckless song. Raynes covering “Jolene” — Live From Chelsea.

Fitting, since their own song “Josephine” tells this same story from the other side. Their debut album Radio Remind Me is out now. #dollyparton @dollyparton

Taylor Momsen told me how Dave Grohl and Pat Smear ended up on “About You.”

She wrote the song as a conversation, and it was always missing the other voice. “I couldn’t hear anyone but Dave doing it.” So she called him, flew to LA straight off a show, and they tracked the entire thing in a day. He played drums, he played guitars, he sang.

The new version of “About You” is out today.

“If I’m not understanding why people are doing are doing what they’re doing, then there’s not really a lot there for me to listen to.”

Jimmy Chamberlin spoke with @scottlipps about what it was like to hear other drummers sit behind the kit for The Smashing Pumpkins when he was out of the band 👀

“If the Beatles are the Bible, Soundgarden is the New Testament.”

I asked Taylor Momsen for her Mt. Rushmore of artists, and she built hers from what she actually listens to: The Beatles, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd and AC/DC, with a little bit of The Doors sprinkled in. The Beatles are the unicorns of music, the blueprint for everything. Soundgarden took what they built and turned it into something completely new. Pink Floyd made flawless records. And after years on the road opening for AC/DC, she says they seep into your soul whether you plan on it or not.

Who’s on your Mt Rushmore, and who are you kicking off hers?
