This past Tuesday I experienced a beautiful full circle moment during the opening of my solo presentation Before We Became Other at The Hall of Fame Gallery at @bcccuny. When I moved to NYC and started at this school, Bliss Hall became a safe heaven for me and many other students, the sense of community was, still is real, and fostered so many friendships that are still holding decades later.

Full of gratitude over this experience, Thank you to the Bcc Art & Music Department @bcc_artandmusic, It’s Faculty, the BCC President Dr. Johnson, Vice President Montenegro, The Gallery Director Alison Collins for curating this show, and creating a beautiful conversation amongst the pieces. The Gallery interns who helped put the show together. Also my former Professor, Friend and Mentor @lisa_amowitz.author Chairperson of the Art Department.

Everyone that came to the opening big thank you this means a lot to me 🙏🏾. My @weartone1 fam for coming through 🫂.

Happy National Read a Book Day! Save this post for when you need to get lost in a good book 🩵

📚

Video Description: A stack of books is on a bed on a white blanket. A small black pitbull dog with a white chest is sitting behind and to the right of the book stack as the camera pans up the stack. Text on screen says It's National Read a Book Day! "Here are some of my faves to get lost in today (and any day)." My white hand pulls one book at a time off the stack to reveal the one underneath. The dog in the background lies down. The books in order are: The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb, Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, An Island Strange and Wild by Lisa Amowitz, Take the Leap by Andrea Nourse, Nothing But Darkness by Maria Ann Green, This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone, Odd Man Rush by Kristen Granata, The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins, Home is Where You Are by Melissa Grace, Apparitions by Adam Pottle, Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, The Rose Code by Kate Quinn, and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. End Description.

When you visit your friend and she has this many of your books, you have to take a pic! We’re just missing a few…pour one out for Shadows of the Seven Sins, The Memory Thief, and The Dream Keeper’s Daughter.

Seriously though, don’t they look so pretty together? Can’t wait to finish Book 3 in The Bone Moon trilogy so Fate and Fury & Revenge and Ruin can have a friend! I’m working hard on it this weekend, promise. Nobody @ me.

Shoutout to @lisa_amowitz.author for being an obsessive collector and making this pic possible. 🤣 Also, City of Liars got to be on top because, y’know, it’s her week and she’s the queen. ❤️

OK, back into the writing cave. See y’all anon!

🎭This was such a special experience! 🎭

🪭 City of Liars is a dual timeline story that’s set partially in New York City and partially in North Carolina. In the NYC chapters, one of the most significant locations is Gramercy Park, an exclusive park that requires a key to enter or leave…yet somehow, a little girl vanishes from inside it.

🎭 @theplayersnyc , an iconic social club that overlooks the park, is another vital location in City of Liars. I did so much research on the Club before writing the book, in part because the Players is members-only and I never imagined I’d be able to tour it. But last night, thanks to the magic of NYC and strangers’ generosity, I got to do just that.

🎬 Standing in the very rooms where some of the book’s most essential scenes took place, seeing my characters come to life, was a dream come true. I’ll share more later, but for now, I just wanted to express my gratitude!

The plan was one unforgettable night, but fate had something else in mind.

When Liv, a divorced single mom, falls for Theo, a gifted pianist with a haunted past, they’re drawn into a story of love, injustice, and generational wounds that could heal their families…or tear them apart.

🪭 Dual timeline
😈 Morally grey characters
🎹 Hot pianist MMC
💘 Romeo and Juliet vibes
💔 One night stand
🌸 Single parent
🫆 Mistaken identities
🖤 Emotional wreckage
👻 Haunted by the past (literally!)

Secret Garden Inspired Book Recs!⛲️🌱🗝️

{•} These are a little more middle grade heavy, but hey! A good middle grade book can hit in a way that YA or adult doesn’t!! Gallant is such a good example of this! It’s a little eerie and I loved it!

Thank you SO much to every person that came by, chatted, supported and purchased from my shop and making my first ever event go so well. Yesterday was amazing I had so much fun! 😁 It was so great to see you browse and shop the books I personally chose. I’ll try my best to get a larger inventory with more variety 🙂‍↕️

I am so beyond grateful for each of my family members and friends who came to see me and my shop, and support my business, especially those who stood with me the ENTIRE day from 7am til 7pm hauling heavy books around ♥️

Thank you so so much I can never be thankful enough truly. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of the work it took to set it all up on my own without you guys being there with me, even as I panicked when I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to display the books and merch 😆 Everything went by smoothly because of you all. I was so happy to have you there even if briefly, it really means a lot 🫶🏼💓

It was so great to have a local indie author join the event with me. Lisa you are amazing, I can’t wait to work with you more @lisa_amowitz.author 💛

Andd I can’t wait to do this again NEXT WEEK at Union Square Park!! Yes that’s right!! I’ll be at Union Square next Sunday! Hope to see more of your lovely faces and amazing energies at my booth at the fair!! Thrilled to talk more books soon!

Love you all 🥰

…at last, part 3! I can’t believe Revenge and Ruin is launching in less than 10 days. You can preorder it now at all the usual suspects.

Plus, Fate and Fury is 🔥FREE🔥 from now through March 21, so it’s the perfect time to snap up book one and read right on to book two!

@lisa_amowitz.author designed this cover and created the cover art, too, and I’m absolutely in love with it. These burning apricot roses are everything to me!

Guess what? Fate and Fury is 🔥FREE🔥 from now through March 21! It’s the perfect time to snap it up and then preorder book 2 (Revenge and Ruin, launching March 26). *cough cough*

I had fun designing Part I of my new carousel image for The Bone Moon series…though with gorgeous art coming soon from the incomparable @afernot, I might need to alter it again soon… 👀

But for now, here’s Part I of this beauty! Thanks to artist and designer @lisa_amowitz.author, Fate and Fury has a new cover, proudly proclaiming itself a trilogy and showcasing its pretty little silver award banner. Isn’t she pretty? 🤩

Now, off to do what I’m perhaps worst at…using my minimal spatial relations skills to get these three posts up in order. 🤣🤣 Here goes nothing!
