Maria is not good at it.
Thank you frendz for including me in your sizzling summer plans. I look forward to seeing you in October. With sleeves. And a decent blowdry.
In the meantime ... 😒🪭

You know how they say ‘follow your dreams’ and all that. This dress appeared in one such feverish dream after I received the invite from the happy couple to be. I literally dreamt I was wearing exactly this at their wedding - pale memories now eclipsed by the actual wedding of dreams - and I dreamt it down to the last detail and bead placement. Granted, I had imbibed profusely, and I had deep-dived the www looking for an elusive Fellini clip just before bed; but this dress came to me in a dream and I had to respect its wish to come into the world. It had also been a while since I felt like making something for myself and dedicating all the hours and stitches to me and only me.

Then came the inevitable ‘but of course!’ - the fabric I imagined did not exist and had to be created out of strips of red and green raw silk. The fabric attendant looked confused but somewhat still enthusiastic. No, ‘enthusiastic’ is the wrong word. She was 'positively bemused' and I was adamant to push on with my vision and refused a more subtle colour pairing. "Bah! I'll subtle when I'm dead." Adapting a 90s taffetta party dress pattern, aligning those bold bands of fabric, cutting a full circle cape out of red silk chiffon, attaching the glass beads by hand (thank you @evecocks’ nanna Nena for those) and calculating the ideal distances for front and back bead placement to ensure the perfect drop, hand sewing the floral lining around a bitch of a zipper – the stuff of exquisite nightmares, my favourite kind of torture.

I love making things for fun, for the pure joy of making, and things that incite even more joy and playfulness when worn. Thank you @franifarr and @darmanindavid for inspiring me to stop a while and make something special for your unfuckingbelievably special day. *Cin cin agli sposi!* 🥂❤️✨️
