What does it mean to build the future of a nation?
For me, it begins with our children, who are the future & solution.

Earlier this week, I participated as a panelist at the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium, themed Shaping the Future Together, for conversations around leadership, opportunity and the future we are building for the next generation and as a result our nation.

At Let It Shine Academy (LISA) @lisacademyng ,this responsibility is one we live every day. We believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to quality education, care and the opportunity to discover what is possible for their life; and getting to share this, the vision, our why and how was very special.

Nation-building is not only about the institutions we create or the infrastructure we develop. It is also about the people we invest in, the opportunities we make accessible, and the children we refuse to leave behind.

The Nigeria we hope to build tomorrow depends, in no small part, on what we choose to do for its children today.

That is the work we remain committed to at LISA.

Education being a deliberate driver & being called upon to speak on the education system but truly service as this event was truly humbling and an honour.

Jesus, all glory belongs to you.
“Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.””

Introducing Oko Eleso Farms by LISA. LISA Farm! 🌱

I can’t believe I get to say this and this is real. From the moment we opened our doors as a boarding school September last year I kept asking myself the same question.
As I did God answered me very clearly as He got me to think and brought things into remembrance and one thing LISA has taught me is the limitless power of God so again I ventured ingrain but also afraid.
Over the past few years building LISA, sustainability has always become part of the bigger picture. Because providing free, quality education to over 300 children and over 50 live in staff also means finding sustainable ways to care for them, today and for years to come.

And so, we decided to grow our own food. Literally! 🌾

With plots of farmland across two locations in Ondo State, we’re growing yam, cassava, maize, sweet potatoes, vegetables and more, all with one goal: to feed LISA.

This is more than a farm. It’s another step towards building a future where every child of LISA can continue to learn, grow and thrive, without the burden of cost.

From our soil in Ondo State to their plates at LISA. 💚

Only God sustains and writes such stories. 🌱
JESUS JESUS JESUS! THANK YOU!

One year on, and the pain of losing Sommie still feels impossible to put into words. 💔

She started She Takes Up Space because she believed deeply in girls and young women feeling seen, heard, confident and able to use their voice.

Although our pain is unbearable, we now have the privilege of continuing what she started. As much as we grieve her loss, we are also so deeply thankful for her life. Thankful for the love she gave, the light she brought into every room, the lives she touched and the vision she left behind. We will always be grateful that we got to know, love and be loved by her.

Our first Opportunity Day with @lisacademyng was incredibly special to us. Seeing the girls speak up, ask questions, grow in confidence and think bigger about what is possible for them felt like a beautiful reflection of the work Sommie wanted to do.

We are so grateful to @lisacademyng for opening their doors and being part of something that means so much to us.

One year without her, we miss her beyond words. But we will keep showing up, keep building and keep carrying her work forward. 🩷

For Sommie, always.
