Wandering through Lisbon feels like stepping into a living postcard.

Every day here is a sensory overload in the best way possible. the rattle of old-school trams, the breeze coming off the water, centuries old history woven into the architecture, and a culture that makes you feel instantly at home. Current status: fueled entirely by the vibe and chasing the best views and food in the city.

Our Amalfi Coast adventure continues. Yesterday was spent wandering the ancient city of Pompeii, and we're still wrapping our heads around it.

What struck @lisafstone and I most wasn’t just the scale, the beauty, or the eerie stillness left behind by tragedy. It was the sophistication; city planning, engineering, public spaces, plumbing. Even political ads painted on the walls. So much of it feels strangely familiar.

There were wide streets with designated pedestrian paths. Drainage systems carved into stone. Public fountains that ran 24 hours a day. Bathhouses that feel like the blueprint for modern spas. And the homes were complete with open courtyards, skylights for natural light, and some of the most beautiful frescoes and mosaics we’ve ever seen, still vivid after ~2000 years.

The commercial streets even had fast-food counters with built-in clay pots to keep food warm. It looked a lot like a walk-up lunch windows in New York.

It’s wild to think all of this existed over 2000 years ago. And honestly, it made us wonder how much “progress” we’ve really made. Sure, we’ve changed the materials and added Wi-Fi, but the fundamentals are still the same. It also begs the question, what the hell happened in the middle ages that so much knowledge was forgotten 🤔

At the end of this day, Pompeii was a reminder that human innovation, comfort, and community are timeless. If you ever get the chance, go. It’s unforgettable.

First time in Positano and we would love your recommendations!

First impressions: no one warned us to the extent that #positano doubles as a stairmaster. According to Google Fit the walk from the port to our hotel was the equivalent of climbing 57 flights of stairs and honestly it felt like more.

What really surprised us wasn’t just the uphill journey. It’s how compact and tightly woven everything is. Positano doesn’t feel like a typical city. It feels more like a cliffside village where every turn reveals another view, another staircase, and somehow another ceramic or clothing shop.

The architecture is a mix of weathered elegance and bold Mediterranean color with buildings stacked like puzzle pieces on the cliffs. Think Tetris. And the bougainvillea is everywhere pouring down balconies climbing stairways and wrapping itself around doorways like it’s been here forever and maybe it has.

The biggest treat of day one might have been feeling completely lost after climbing even more seemingly random and endless stairs through quiet residential alleys and stumbling onto a restaurant helmed by a Michelin starred chef with views that don’t look real and a meal we’ll be dreaming about for years.

It’s beautiful surreal and a little bit exhausting in the best possible way. Our legs may never forgive us but our eyes are grateful.

If you have been, please share your recommendations. Grazie mille.
