Years ago, before @lisahillary became my wife, I gave her this instrumental for her birthday. She took it, wrote the lyrics, and turned it into something that became really special to both of us. #bryanfratesmusic #mainemusic #southernmainemusic #lisahillarymusic

All these years later, it’s still one of my favorite songs to sing with her. Pretty cool to look back at something we created together then and realize how much life we’ve lived together since.

Give it a listen and let us know what you think if you haven’t heard it yet!

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in what's next that we forget to stop and appreciate the life we're living right now.

This past month has been equal parts exhausting and absolutely badass. I'm incredibly thankful for every opportunity, every memory, and every person who's been part of it. The pace has been nonstop, sleep will happen someday, but I wouldn't trade this season of life for anything.

I was here during another late evening when we came before this council to approve the lease for the men's team, and I remember the excitement and optimism surrounding what we hoped to build.

Now, a season and a half later, we've had the privilege of hosting Hearts matches and watching this community embrace not only our club but the incredible culture that has grown around it. It has been inclusive, welcoming, and uniquely Portland.

As we stood here today asking for dates to host games for a women's pre-professional team, our state had already showed us how it was ready to embrace the game of soccer in a remarkable way.

Along with that, it has developed a special connection with Fort Fitzy—a place that has become much more than a stadium. It has become a gathering place for our community.

Adding a women's team is the next step in this story.

It creates an opportunity to elevate women in sports both on and off the pitch and gives young girls across Maine the chance to see athletes who look like them competing on a stage right here at home.

Tonight we made history in Maine, time to get to work.
