I have had the pleasure of sitting for a portrait with the South Sefton Artists, a group of established artists who meet weekly in Little Crosby to work on their paintings.

My portrait has been created over three sittings, totalling 11 hours, and it’s fascinating to see the time, patience and skill that goes into a piece of artwork. The artists are still working on the finished piece and will need more time to complete it, so I’m looking forward to seeing the final result.

The group will be holding an exhibition in Little Crosby on 20th, 21st and 22nd November, showcasing a wonderful collection of paintings by these talented artists.

More details to follow, but if you love art and supporting local artists, it’s one to look out for. @margyoung81 @georgelee9070 @katherinedereli @philipgarrett7 @lisalanganart More artists to exhibit also.

In the displacement camps, the suffering of children is no longer limited to the suffocating heat, hunger, or thirst. Danger now creeps silently beneath their feet, hiding among the blankets and lurking in the darkness of night, turning their precious moments of sleep into endless terror.

Here, the tent is no longer a shelter; it has become an open field for all manner of harm: insects that devour small bodies, rodents that scavenge what little remains, and snakes that lie in wait for souls exhausted by displacement and fear.

As summer approaches, this nightmare grows ever larger, and fears intensify of a health and environmental catastrophe that may spare no one.

What is happening is not a passing incident, but a new warning bell, added to a long list of suffering that has yet to find an end.
