🔵🔴🟡 Bushwick Open Studios weekend at @skewville.presents, 237 Starr St. @skewville and @skew.droo opened up the archive and put it back on the walls: installation panels from the who’s who of the street art scene, circa 2006. Layers, drips, paste and all, they survived 20 years intact.

Featuring: @bastny, @faileart, @obeygiant, @theflowerguy, @danwitzstreetart, @drrevoltrtw

They also handed out free prints to everyone who came through, which is about as Skewville as it gets.

It was an incredible experience having @crashone out in Greenpoint with us. A true legend of the graffiti and street art world, since the 1970s he’s transformed NYC streets with his vibrant colors and unmistakable style. Watching him bring a wall to life in our neighborhood was special.

This mural is the first to go up as part of the Greenpoint Mural Art Initiative, a new partnership between Mack Art Foundation and @lisaprojectnyc to bring large scale public art to the neighborhood. Our goal is to celebrate Greenpoint’s story, from its industrial waterfront roots to the creative community it’s become today. We plan to work with both local artists who know the neighborhood firsthand and world renowned artists like Crash. Together, they’ll bring color to the walls for everyone to enjoy.

More murals (and more artists) are coming soon!

🐑 Counting Sheep during New York Fashion Week 🐑

🎨Featured Artist: Praxis @praxis_vgz
📍 Artwork location: 17 & 30 Avenue A, with the support of @lisaprojectnyc

A lamb gazes into a Michael Kors fashion show, inviting viewers to see fashion through the eyes of the animals behind the wool. Artist @praxis_vgz created a dual perspective artwork on Avenue A in NYC. The first mural shows the fashion show through the eyes of a lamb who has been mutilated by live lamb cutting, and the second mural shows fashion show guests turning their attention toward a lamb, the animal behind the wool.

About the artwork, Praxis says, “I remember walking down to the sheep enclosure in a sanctuary I was staying at and laying down on the grass next to them, and thinking, these sheep are so lucky, they get to spend every day free, free of pain, free of fear. Unfortunately, the reality of millions of sheep inside of factory farms, bred and raised to supply the fashion industry with their wool, is very different. That’s what I want to show with these two murals, what is behind what people wear, the individual and what we do to them, specifically we wanted to bring attention to live lamb cutting, and how this horrific practice contributes to the suffering of millions of individuals that are exploited by the fashion industry. I want people to see these murals and reconsider what they wear and where it comes from.”

#jefcampion #happybirthday 🎂that was a joyous day of celebration and one day later on 911 , the horrific day that changed Jeff to Jef - Army of One. He was not only a NY street artist but also an LA s a , he was a Yonkers Fireman , first in last out. Jef was an activist against war and how it destroys children's innocent lives. He gave 18 years of his life dedicated to making cancer kids happy even though it broke his heart to see them suffering and he raised almost 1million dollars for the Ronald McDonald House in those years helping children. He lived a life suffering with his own lung disease that he m infected from being a 911 responder and remaining at ground zero for 40 days and nights. It finally took its toll on his body , mind and spirit and he ended it all because Jef was dieing. He went out in his own terms, as was the life he lived. Never forget 911 for not only those that died that day but for those who still to this continue to die from the toxic air surrounding lower Manhattan when they said it was safe they lied to us/ US. They lied about everything that day and been propagating us a bunch of bs. Miss you brother , you will never be forgotten.Army of One should be inside the 911 museum. Jef was a great humanitarian and lived by his name , a champion among men.
