The Olive View 🫒

Opening evening: Friday 16 October, 6-8pm. Continues until 31 October, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 - 4.

We’re delighted to present The Olive View, a group exhibition celebrating the opening of The Garden of Peace at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.

Curated by @lisawrightart, the exhibition brings together work by 20 artists, each responding to the ideas of peace, connection, resilience and rebirth at the heart of @olive_network and The Garden of Peace.

The exhibition takes over both floors of Tremenheere Gallery, with work exploring the olive tree as a powerful symbol of peace and our shared connections across the world.

*Please note: the Gallery will be closed on Tuesday 27 October for a private event.*

Come and explore The Olive View this autumn 🌿

What a total joy to visit the Annual Open @rwabristol again for a proper look around and to hear @alicekettle and @jemma_appleby talk about their work in the gallery. There are many brilliant works in the exhibition and it’s all been hung so thoughtfully.

Doing an excellent job were this year’s guest judges/selectors @_paul_hedge_ @cerihand and @sc99_uk with RWAs @angelalizon @hamishyoungart @_katiecathrynanne and @sarahgillespieart

So many gems and new to me artists to find out about. Used my 20 tags but you can see everyone/everything on the @rwabristol website. Loads of red dots too 👍

I love Bristol… as I drove in someone was on the overpass painting the M32 ❤️a city full of artists!

And if you’re there, go into the Kenny Gallery for Academician Candidates Exh. - closing soon. My paintings are up.

Mick Rooney RA (1944-2026) Very sad news that the artist and dear friend Mick Rooney has passed. I can’t remember when we met but in the late 1970s we drove with Gus Cummins to Holland for the exhibition ‘Remfry, Rooney, Rosoman’ at the Nanky d Vreeze Gallery. Soon after we were both represented by Gillian Raffles at the Mercury Gallery, Cork Street and more recently he has shown with Fosse Gallery. Mick’s paintings are like wonderful dreams: they are mysterious, poetic and human. Mick will be greatly missed and my condolences go to his family. This photo, with Lisa Wright sitting between us, is from an RA Varnishing day a few years ago. #mickrooney #royalacademyofarts

Monday was Prize Giving Day at the Royal Academy of Arts and I was very happy to be one of the Judges of the AVA Art Prize UK 2026 along with Jennifer Schipf from AXA and fellow artist Mark Hampson. 🎉🎉🎉 so pleased we chose to give the prize to Lisa Wright for her painting In The Garden. I’ve hung Lisa’s work in previous summer exhibitions and she has been submitting to the RASE for 24 years. Lisa describes the work as searching for wonder within the everyday, holding intimacy, memory and the passing of time in delicate balance. Congratulations to Lisa and all the other winners—and always a bonus to bump into Sadie Clayton, who was one of the Judges for the Dupree Family Prize 💥💥💥 #prizegiving #axaart #royalacademyofart
