martha, i’m sorry is out now!

i have been broken up with so so many times, and each time i have begged the other person to break up with me. i once genuinely wrote someone an essay of reasons not to leave me - one of the reasons being ‘we don’t even have to hang out’ lmao

then i met someone and i thought it was all going to be different, until i realised that the only difference was that they weren’t brave or kind enough to break up with me. this left me in a crazy situation where i had to inflict my worst fear (Breaking Up) upon myself & also on this person who i really wanted to love. i put it off for way too long but i eventually did it and it was hard and sad but good.

i think this song is my way of saying sorry. for leaving, for waiting too long, for being scared, for everything. i wrote it a few days after i left, when it alll felt so raw and confusing. martha helped me make sense of the situation and Feel all things i was pushing down…

me & sean & rhys went to a cottage in wales & turned it into a makeshift studio, and this was the first thing we recorded there. me and rhys sat down opposite eachother and that’s how we recorded the whole song, with me singing & playing & him strumming along with me. no click no headphones no nothing baby (as pictured)

this song is an 8 minute behemoth. it’s my favourite song to play live & the one that people always mention when they come up to me at the end. it is my last single before i release my ep, keeper, on the 13th of november. it is truly the emotional centerpiece of that project & while it is unhinged to release a single this long and slow and emotionally weighted i love the song so much that i had to give it its moment <3

i hope u feel it the way i do :’)
