Historical records of The Milliken Hill you will not learn in school;

- The British expedition discovered the hill at Enugu Ngwo in 1908.

- In 1909, the colonial administration sent a team of mining engineers to search for silver but instead found coal.

- The mining engineers’ discovery of coal led to the establishment of Enugu Ngwo as a significant coal mining center in Nigeria.

- The Miliken Hill Road, named after the chief engineer who created it, was constructed in 1909 to provide access to the coal mines located in the area.

- The road is approximately 4.8 km long and features around 33 sharp bends as it winds through the foot of Milliken Hill.

- The coal mines in the Enugu Ngwo area, including Iva Valley Mines, Onyeama Mines, Ogbete Mines, and Okpara Mines, became important sources of coal production.

- The Milliken Hill Road had its first reconstruction in 2018 to improve its condition and safety.

- Prior to the construction of an alternate route from the Ngwo axis of the state, drivers entering and leaving the city of Enugu had to use Milliken Hill Road as the main route, which had a high accident rate due to its curving nature.

The “Osu Caste System” is an ancient traditional practice in Igboland that discourages social interaction and marriage with a caste of persons referred to as “Osu” (outcasts). @atuanyachigozie says it’s been abolished in most places and he (for example) can marry ANYBODY he likes, Osu or not, is this true in your own village/town?
