Accelerationism is the philosophical idea that the pushes of capitalism and technological development should be drastically accelerated rather than restricted, with the belief that this rapid expansion will eventually trigger a fundamental transformation or collapse of modern society.

British philosopher Nick Land became the most influential and controversial figure behind this theory during the 1990s at the University of Warwick. Land argued that capitalism is not a system controlled by humans, but rather an autonomous, alien-like force that uses human beings merely as a vehicle to develop itself. His perspective is explicitly anti-humanist, as he welcomes a future where artificial intelligence and automation completely outgrow and replace human agency.

In his later years, Land's philosophy shifted into what is known as the "Dark Enlightenment" or neo-reactionary (NRX) movement. He rejected democracy and social egalitarianism, arguing that these systems act as brakes on technological progress. Instead, he advocated for authoritarian, hyper-capitalist governance to allow technology and Al to develop without any safety rails-a worldview that heavily influences certain modern tech movements in Silicon Valley today.

The theory that Jesus was Indian suggests that during the unrecorded years of his life, traditionally between the ages of 12 and 30, he may have travelled to India and studied with Hindu or Buddhist spiritual teachers.

Proponents of this theory point to similarities between Jesus's teachings on compassion, non-violence, renunciation, and love for all beings and ideas found in Indian spiritual traditions.

One of the best-known works promoting this hypothesis is Holger Kersten's Jesus Lived in India, which argues that Jesus may have travelled east and possibly returned to the region later in his life. Supporters also draw attention to Indian depictions of Jesus in a meditative, yogic posture.

However, the theory remains speculative: there is no reliable historical evidence establishing that Jesus visited India, and mainstream historians generally regard him as a first-century Jewish teacher who lived in Roman-era Judea.

The New Existential Dilemma: How to cope with the collapse of civilization?

Armed with some conceptual background, I'd like to explore a new theory of mine.

While humanity may always be plagued by "cosmic existential angst," the search for meaning in an uncaring universe, we've increasingly fallen victim to what I'll call "terrestrial existential angst, the search for meaning in a collapsing world.

This new angst springs from a paradox, similar to that of Sisyphus. On the one hand, we have man's desire to live and survive, and on the other, we have the growing likelihood of civilizational self-destruction.

It's no secret that the future of our modern post-industrial world is in question.

Whereas prior generations only had to contend with one existentially-threatening problem at a time (nuclear proliferation, o-zone, militaristic regimes), our current global society is attempting to negociate dozens of potentially-world-ending problems*, all at once.

Deforestation, ocean acidification, climate change, anti-biotic-resistant diseases, peak oil, and resource over-exploitation are just a few challenges we will have to confront in the coming years. And I haven't even mentioned the market-instability and growing likelihood of regional conflict that these challenges can precipitate.

If you're not convinced that human society is due for collapse, assume you are, for the sake of this exercise.

If you do believe that our global civilization may eventually or is already coming to an end...

You have three choices:

1. Su***

2. Nihilism/hedonism/self-interest

3. Revolution

Are these valid choices? If not, what other choices could one pursue, in light of our present circumstances?

And if you agree with my conception of choices, what would you choose?
