💪Later middle high school start times drive SIGNIFICANT benefits in academic and athletic performance, better physical ( metabolic, immune, hormonal) and mental health ( less depression and suicidality), and fewer teen car crashes. BUT it comes with logistical barriers. ( school bus schedules, work and athletic schedules). Think beyond those to WHAT MATTERS MOST- our kids! #startschoollater #hamiltoncounty #healthykids

Middle and high school students and families!
🧠We know adolescents need later sleep/wake schedules. 🌟We see improved outcomes when we shift school start times later ( no earlier than 8:30 is the recommendation by AAP) 🚌💵 BUT there are logistical barriers. 🤝 we need to work together to make this happen. If you are in HCDE contact your school board rep to show support and those who can help, we need YOU! #hamiltoncountyschools #laterstarttimes #teensleep #adolescenthealth #schoolstart

Voluntary discomfort stings a little less when taken on with other aligned humans. Community takes nurturing, collaboration and effort. However once it's established, you can't stop it. Nor can you stop the ripples that compound to those you love the most.

Man it was such a blast to be apart of the Seed Expo and the @nationalparkcitycha seed campaign and telling neighbors about @roundaboutnorthchatt!

Seeing the sheer variety of creative ideas that are being thought of to improve our city across so many ways felt like I was apart of a World Fair Exhibition dedicated specifically for our community.

Inviting peeps to also plop a sticky into our RL Prompt boards led to some great conversations (and doodles from some talented young artists 👀) that I think will help neighbors feel really seen once some elbow grease is put into it.

If you haven’t yet, head to my bio to drop a vote for our project and show your support, plus keep up with the project if you haven’t already created a roundabout account (which launches in one week!).

Thanks for stopping by neighbors!

🌿 Keep Chatt Clean 🌿
Keep Chatt Clean, an initiative created by Clif Hellner, is a community-driven effort to reduce litter, improve recycling, and inspire pride in caring for our parks, streets, trails, and waterways.
Chattanooga is part of a global movement to become a National Park City...a city where nature, community, and everyday life are deeply connected. It’s about recognizing that our parks, mountains, rivers, trails, and neighborhoods are all part of a shared natural landscape worth protecting and celebrating.
From the Tennessee River and the Riverwalk to Lookout Mountain, Stringer’s Ridge, and the countless green spaces throughout the city, Chattanooga already lives at the intersection of urban life and the outdoors. The National Park City vision builds on that foundation by encouraging residents, businesses, schools, and organizations to help care for the places that make this city so special.
This movement is powered by community ideas called “Seeds” which are initiatives that help improve environmental stewardship, community connection, outdoor access, and civic pride.
