✨Awake✨
by Jen Hatmaker

Who am I when the life I thought I was going to live falls apart?

That’s the question at the heart of Jen Hatmaker’s, Awake.

After the devastating end of her 26-year marriage, Jen finds herself navigating betrayal, grief and the loss of the future she had imagined. Her story follows the painful, sometimes funny and deeply human process of rebuilding her life, and discovering herself along the way.

What makes this book resonate is how far its themes reach beyond divorce. It explores the identities we build around being a wife, a mother, a good woman. The expectations we absorb. The ways we learn to put ourselves last, sometimes without even noticing.

For so many women in midlife, there comes a moment when we ask:
What do I actually want?
What do I believe?
And who am I underneath everything I’ve been for everyone else?

Those questions may arrive through a marriage ending, burnout, children leaving home or a quiet feeling that something needs to change.

Awake makes room for the messiness of that reckoning. There is grief for what has been lost, alongside the growing possibility of a life that feels more honest and more your own.

A powerful read for any woman learning to trust herself again or beginning to wonder what her next chapter could hold.

If you’ve been in my community for a while, you’ll know I used to run four in-person events a year. Great fun - a lot of work to organise and promote! So last year I pulled it back to two. And of course, as soon as I did, women from within my mastermind started asking “Can we have more dinners like this?” Fair enough too … because we all know that nothing beats the connection at in-person events. It’s the best kind 🥰

So of course I said yes. This one was just for my mastermind women and alumni - small, intimate, no agenda other than good food and amazing conversation. And it was a hit.

Don’t tell anyone but I’m pretty set on the idea of making these a regular thing next year. Intimate dinners for incredible women - not as large as my Shine & Dines, but just as wonderful.

Wanna come?

Huge shout out to the team at @token_au in South Yarra for the amazing food and service. We’ll be back!

And thanks to these women for coming along and making it such a magnificent evening … 💫

Success and alignment are not always the same thing.

You can build the career you always wanted...
...and still know, deep down, that something isn't right.

That's one of the conversations I had with Jacqui Hawkins in this week's episode of Leading You.

After 25 years in law, including serving as Victoria's Deputy State Coroner, Jacqui made the difficult decision to walk away from a career that had defined so much of her life.

Together, we explore:
💫 Why achievement doesn't always lead to fulfilment.

💫 The hidden impact of vicarious trauma and constantly carrying the weight of others.

💫 The tension between ego and inner wisdom when it's time to make a difficult decision.

💫 Why changing careers doesn't automatically change the patterns we bring with us.

💫 How journalling, meditation, breathwork and noticing everyday "glimmers" can help us reconnect with ourselves.

💫 Why you don't need to blow up your life to create meaningful change.

This is a conversation about identity, self-leadership and having the courage to ask whether the life you've built still fits the person you're becoming.

To shop with a stylist or not?

Shopping with a Stylist really does make a difference to your confidence and the way you feel, not only in the boutique or store, but also in the change room of any place you may visit by yourself.

I’ve made genuine connections with the brands and management staff within each boutique through personal styling and my career in TV. It really does make a difference to the way that you’re treated in-store.

Thanks @litwithincoaching Jacqui Hawkins for sharing more about your experience.

Anyone care to share their experience instore alone be it good or bad?

Black tie means something different to everyone. 💃

When you’re invited to a black tie event, your interpretation of the dress code is shaped by your personality, confidence and how dressed up you normally like to be.

But this time, there was no holding back. We went all in.

We headed to Australian designer @rebeccavallance , where I introduced Jacqui from @litwithincoaching (check her out!) to some truly spectacular gowns for her son’s Year 12 Formal. It was such a fun experience catching up with Nicole, the Area Manager, who made us feel like royalty while we explored some incredible options.

Before we met, Jacqui was worried about what she was going to wear, where she should shop and whether she’d even have the confidence to walk into a designer boutique.

Just one hour later, everything had changed.

She found the perfect gown and left knowing exactly which shoes, bag, jewellery and hairstyle would complete the look. No more second guessing. No more overwhelm. Just excitement for the event ahead.

This is why I love what I do. Shopping isn’t just about buying clothes. It’s about giving women the confidence to walk into any room knowing they look and feel amazing.

P.S. I’m wearing:
✨ Lace top and skirt: Decjuba
✨ Satin blazer: Decjuba
✨ Broach: @rebecca_thompson_fashion
✨ Boots: Scanlan Theodore

Have you ever panicked about what to wear to a black tie event? Let me know in the comments. 💛

These women 💛

Different industries. Different stages of business. Different personalities and goals.

But every single one of them made the decision to stop trying to figure it all out alone… and start building their business more intentionally.

More visibility.
More clarity.
More confidence.
Better strategy.
Stronger businesses.

And the best part of my work? Watching women back themselves in ways they never have before.

We have a beautiful new group of women starting inside Shine Bright over the next week, and I’m so excited to start working with them.

If you’ve been craving support, strategy, accountability and would love to be surrounded by smart women who ‘get it’… reach out and let’s chat.

You don’t have to keep doing business on your own. xx

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about last night… 🤍

My mid-year Shine & Dine event was one of those nights you don’t want to end.
So much connection, so many real conversations.

Hearing @bridgetbellstylist and @litwithincoaching share their stories and perspectives - you could feel how much it resonated around the room.

And the best part? So many women who had never been to one of these nights before stopping me to say…
“I’m so glad I came… I didn’t expect it to be this good.”

It’s a reminder that we need this.

To get out.
To connect.
To be in the room.

Because nothing beats being in-person✨

After FOUR attempts at going live this morning, each one foiled by sound issues which I still don’t know how to fix 🤷‍♀️ … I decided to jump on zoom and chat with @litwithincoaching and @bridgetbellstylist - because if you don’t know them already, you should. And they will both be my panel guests for next weeks’s Shine & Dine event in Melbourne.

Bridget and Jacqui are making an impact on the lives of women in midlife. Helping them find their spark, build their confidence, and show up in a more empowered way. Bridget through personal styling, and Jac through coaching.

Listen. Be inspired. And come join us next week to find out more about their own journeys and what it means to step into your next chapter as a midlife women in business. And at the same time, connect with a room full of other wonderful, genuine, inspiring midlife women in business.

Hope to see you there! 🥂
