Een nieuwe naam, een gekozen verhaal. ✨

Vanaf vandaag ga ik als kunstenaar verder onder de naam Charlotte Vaessen.

Hoewel ik officieel haar achternaam niet draag, is zij de vrouw die mij heeft opgevoed. Zij is degene die het verdient dat mijn kunst haar naam draagt. Voor mij voelt dit als de meest oprechte stap die ik kan zetten; het verbindt mijn werk aan de ezel met de basis waar ik vandaan kom.

Met deze verandering kies ik voor een eigen, herkenbaar handschrift. Mijn schilderijen zullen voortaan ondertekend worden met deze naam, als eerbetoon aan de kracht en onvoorwaardelijke steun die zij mij altijd heeft gegeven.

Bedankt dat jullie meereizen op deze weg. 🎨

In het westelijk deel liggen de Beijerlandse polders, waarmee het westelijk deel van de Hoeksche Waard ook wel in zijn geheel als Beijerland wordt aangeduid. De Hoeksche Waard heeft sinds 2005 de status van Nationaal Landschap.

De Hoeksche Waard, ook wel geschreven als Hoekse Waard, wordt door velen beschouwd als één van de Zuid-Hollandse Eilanden, maar ook als een waard. In het westelijk deel liggen de Beijerlandse polders, waarmee het westelijk deel van de Hoeksche Waard ook wel in zijn geheel als Beijerland wordt aangeduid. De Hoeksche Waard heeft sinds 2005 de status van Nationaal Landschap.

De huidige Hoeksche Waard ontstond na 1421 toen de Sint Elisabethsvloed het gebied overstroomde en de waterlopen in het deltagebied drastisch veranderde. Daarvoor hoorde het oostelijk deel bij de Groote of Hollandsche Waard, en het westelijk deel bij het voormalige eiland Putten. Na deze overstroming waren alleen de polders Munnikenland en Sint Anthoniepolder en enkele dijken nog over. In de Sint Anthoniepolder staat nog een kerkje dat tussen 1300 en 1400 is gebouwd. De naam Hoeksche Waard is afgeleid van de ambachtsheerlijkheid Hoecke, het tegenwoordige Puttershoek.

De Hoeksche Waard bevindt zich op de grens van het rivierengebied en de delta die onder invloed van eb en vloed staat. Hierdoor kan het als een van de Zuid-Hollandse Eilanden, maar ook als waard beschouwd worden.
