POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another year older, another chapter added. ♎️📚 It’s my birthday! 🥳 And with a few new faces around here lately, I figured it’s the perfect time for a reintroduction.

Hey, my name is Jasmine, or “Jelly”! 👋🏾 I’m the reader behind The Read List: a Libra, business owner, proud homebody, and a woman who believes there’s no such thing as owning too many books. 😂

My reading taste? Give me a psychological thriller, a dark mystery, a little horror, an unreliable narrator, or a plot twist that makes me question everything I thought I knew. I’m here for ALL of it.

I love dissecting characters, connecting clues, developing theories, and having the kind of conversations that make a good book even better. And while I love a five-star read, you’ll always get my genuine thoughts around here.

Outside of reading, I’m usually running my business, working out, creating content, or finding yet another excuse to stay home with a good book.

If you’re new here, welcome! And if you’ve been around for a while, thank you for being part of my little bookish corner of the internet. 💕

Now tell me: what’s one book you absolutely loved that you rarely hear people talk about? 👀

Here’s to another year of life, literature, and stories worth telling. 🥂🍰✨

If you’re looking for a fast-paced, short chapter, binge in one sitting thriller….look no further!! 😮‍💨

I absolutely devoured this book. Written in multiple POVs and in time shifts, this book had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who to trust. 🫪🫪🫪

The twists had twists!! I recommend going in blind but an extra fun perk that this dealt with characters in the author/literary world! 📖💗

What a fun writing break on this gorgeous sunny afternoon! Call us “Club Calvi” alums the “Calvi Fan Club!” We got to chat with the wonderful Mary Calvi and producer Danielle Parker while shooting a promo for CBS. We also showed remarkable self-restraint and did not eat the pastries until after the filming was wrapped. (Hmmm sugary pastries seem to be occupying a lot of my social media focus lately as my addled deadline brain strives to hit the 🎯 …) Such fun to get to hang with fellow writers John Searles, Liv Constantine and Victoria Christopher Murray — and so thankful to Mary, Danielle, and the whole CBS and Club Calvi team who do so much to support writers and readers. 📚

So thankful to @belmont.bookshop for bringing Lynne to the store to talk about Promise Me Never by @livconstantine2 ! 📚❤️

The conversation was fantastic, but Libby was, of course, the real star of the show! 🐾💕 She was loving all the belly scratches and making sure everyone knew who was really in charge. 😂

I also walked away with a pretty great book haul of signed editions! Nothing better than supporting indie bookstores and adding signed books to the shelves. 📖✨

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this wild ride with short chapters and multiple points of view! The tension builds in this one with a satisfying ending that I did not see coming! I loved the peek into the literary world!

About The Book:

Aspiring writer Savannah’s scheme to meet superstar horror novelist Bennett Bryson turns out better than she ever imagined: not only does her charming and handsome literary idol offer to read her work, he is instantly smitten with her. After a whirlwind romance, Savannah says “yes” to marriage, and the two settle into Bennett’s secluded upstate home.

But just as Savannah thinks she has it made, cracks appear in her perfect new life. Bennett’s behavior becomes dark and controlling: he criticizes Savannah’s writing, dictates her permitted activities, and spends most of his time locked in his office, forbidding her from entering. And everywhere, Savannah cannot escape the shadow of Bennett’s first wife, the free-spirited and passionate artist Poppy, who died in a tragic accident, but who seems still to be Savannah’s rival for Bennett’s affection.

Then comes an enigmatic warning: Bennett is not who he seems. The women that came before Savannah have disappeared. And Savannah could be next.

Isolated and unsure whom to trust, Savannah tries to piece together the mystery of the man she married, and the woman he married first. But Savannah has no idea what her husband is really hiding. And someone out there knows Savannah has secrets of her own. As these two writers will learn the hard way—past really is prologue.
