𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮. This Jewish American Heritage Month, @rebootjewish has curated a guide featuring projects like @live2tell founded by Reboot network member @gigilaub 📸 By preserving Holocaust survivors’ stories through striking portraits and personal testimonies, #Live2Tell draws vital parallels between the past and present. ✡️

Following its feature on @cbssundaymorning last year, Laub’s series continues to honor survivor resilience and ensure these narratives live on. Together with other projects in our guide, it offers a snapshot of a culture being redefined and reimagined today.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮. It’s shaped by migration and memory, tradition, reinvention and stories passed down and stories still being written.

✨ This Jewish American Heritage Month, Reboot developed a guide offering a range of projects created by artists across our network and in our community, each offering a different lens on Jewish identity, culture and experience.

This is not one narrative. It’s many. Together, these projects offer a snapshot of Jewish culture as it is being created and redefined today. ✡️

They didn’t know they were being filmed.
They didn’t know what was coming.

Three minutes.
That’s all we have.

Three Minutes: A Lengthening examines three minutes of footage captured in 1938 — a Jewish community in the Polish town of Nasielsk, alive with laughter, faces, movement. Within a year, so many would be gone, swallowed by the machinery of hate.

The film, based on the book Three Minutes in Poland by Glenn Kurtz — using footage shot by his grandfather — and narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, transforms fragments into testimony.

This isn’t just footage.
It’s evidence.
It’s memory fighting extinction.

Every frame dares us to look closer… to see not victims, but people. Whole lives. Stories interrupted, not erased.

We are the witnesses now.

Watch. Remember. Carry them forward.

On Yom HaShoah, I return in memory to a place I visited in 2018—Shoes on the Danube Bank in Budapest.

Rows of iron shoes along the river.
Silent witnesses to lives interrupted.
Men, women, and children were forced to remove their shoes on the riverbank, then shot—falling into the Danube below.

There is no way to stand there and not feel the weight of absence.
No way to look at those empty shoes and not imagine the fullness of the lives they once held.

Today, we remember the 6 million Jews murdered in the Shoah.
We say their names when we can.
We carry their memory when we cannot.

May remembrance become responsibility.
May “never again” be more than words.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we take time to listen directly from those who lived it🕯️

As Holocaust survivors grow fewer, photographer and Reboot Network member Gillian Laub’s Live2Tell project ensures their stories are not lost. Lee Cowan spoke with Laub and survivors about memory, survival, and the urgent fight against rising antisemitism in a piece for CBS Sunday Morning.

The Holocaust's impact defies universalization. Every Survivor's story holds unique truths, often found in the silences & unspoken words. 'Words have not been invented.' #HolocaustHistory #SurvivorStories #NeverForget #hmtc #hmtvathmtc

Last week, we were honored to welcome members of our Speakers Bureau, both survivors and Heritage Testimonies speakers, to celebrate all the work they do. These survivors and their descendants present their or their family’s experiences during the Holocaust to groups of students and visitors at the Museum. We were also privileged to be joined by photographer and filmmaker Gillian Laub, whose reflections on memory and legacy added an inspiring dimension to the gathering.

We are so grateful to all our speakers for their extraordinary dedication to Holocaust education and remembrance. They provide experiences to our visitors that are educational, emotional, and unforgettable.
