I’m so grateful for an amazing year. I traveled out of the country for the first time, I went on 3 boats in one month, gained another brilliant mentor, decided to pursue “content creation”, went to concert’s, developed my personal style, found what feels like my soul tribe, got closer with my cousins, healed a lot, let go of imposter syndrome and perfectionism, built myself up again from scratch, landed a job and left and found a new one, got opportunities to work with a magazine I love, and am now a co-director of a publication I’m helping build from the ground up. Fell deeper in love with my partner. I built a deeper devotion toward practicing art. Met so many inspiring folks and rubbed elbows with artists I’ve been fans of. I’m grateful for the expansion. I’m grateful for all of the divine abundance I’ve been blessed to experience this year. Rich in love, family, and community. And this is the only beginning. Grateful for 26 rotations around the sun. So much has happened in one year, I fell back in love with myself.

The truth is… I preach selfcare but I SUCK at selfcare.
Today I’m attempting to change that! Sure I give myself all the treatments it can handle, as for anything else. 🫩🫠

I stopped to smell a candle and ended up learning more about candles in 10 minutes than I have in my entire life. 😂🕯️

For this episode of Chill Outside, I was exploring a vendor’s market in Little Italy, San Diego when I came across Live & Muse, a Black-owned business specializing in handmade candles, fragrances, sunglasses, and other smell goods.

What immediately stood out wasn’t just the products, it was the experience.

The owner took the time to educate me on proper candle care, how to get a cleaner burn, how to make candles last longer, and things I honestly never knew despite buying candles for years. You can tell when someone is just selling a product versus when they’re truly passionate about their craft, and she definitely falls into the second category.

She was knowledgeable, patient, welcoming, and genuinely cared about making sure customers got the most out of their purchase.

And the candles? 🔥

Some of the best I’ve ever owned. They smell amazing, burn clean, and have held up surprisingly well even outside in the wind and rain. The quality speaks for itself.

Nobody paid me to make this post. This is simply one of those local businesses that made my day a little better, and I wanted to put y’all on.
