This year I experienced @essencefest differently than I did last year— I did it BIG! I played small for too long not realizing that the only person it was hurting was myself and my desire to live in my purpose. While I’m stepping into year 8 as a non-profit co-founder that has raised nearly $1M in donations, grants and sponsorships, impacting the lives of thousands of HBCU students across the country, it wasn’t until 5 months after I got laid off in March 2025 that I understood how far I could go betting on myself.

In July 2025 during #EssenceFest, I made my first TikTok publicly discussing being laid off. As @xceleader’s co-founder, I was invited as a guest to the @globalblackeconomicforum’s Business Summit along with other founders, business executives, philanthropists, elected officials and others on the @essence 2025 Black Futures List. I was intimidated and felt like I didn’t belong, especially as one of the youngest people in the room. I’ve just always introduced myself as an employee at whatever company/org I was working with at the time or simply just working the event. I’ve allowed too many people to believe that Xceleader is just a passion project that two HBCU alums created to give back— we’re a fully functional organization and we’re doing the work. Being laid off forced me to be uncomfortable in rooms that I’ve always avoided.

ESSENCE Fest 2026 was special. I existed as a co-founder with an activation (and staff), press support for #GBEF (thanks to my friend @mfranklin628 for believing in me), journalist (interviewed @corybooker and @alexislbooker), invited talent because I’m also a content creator and a son. It was great having my mom with me — I think she finally understands all that I do now.

Thank you to my @votehbcu students who continue to say yes to this work. You all did amazing! To my dear friend and sister @kaayalexx, I would not have been able to manage any of this without you. Thank you for holding it down. Thank you to my friend @striceyyyy and @sweetthangsnola for partnering with us. And, lastly, THANK YOU TO @theonyximpact FOR HELPING TO MAKE VOTE HBCU NEW ORLEANS HAPPEN!!!!!

LOVE YALL!!!!! THINK BIG!!!! #EFOC

A week ago, @blckivory_media had the pleasure of providing PR services for @butter.atl and Creatives of Color Weekend 2026. From State Farm to the Fox Theatre, @mrsuperbran curated an incredible 3-day experience that not only educated, but celebrated creators who continue to make major contributions to the creative industry through their talent, innovation, and artistry.

I also had the opportunity to work alongside @livefromqua and her amazing team throughout the weekend on event execution, while collaborating with her to curate an impactful Day 3 panel at the Fox Theatre featuring our girls @hotpeeznbutta, @iamdanicanada, and the man himself @d_ricks.

Huge shoutout to @mrsuperbran for bringing me onto this project and allowing me to showcase my talents in the event programming space. He truly embodies what it means to give back—not just to Atlanta, but to the creative and tech communities as a whole.

If you missed this year’s events, make sure you’re following @butter.atl and visit creativesofcolor.com to stay tapped in for upcoming events, opportunities, and everything #CreativesofColor has in store next.

As we step into March, I want to give a major shoutout to Women’s History Month. 💐

To all the boss women out here making a way for yourselves and paving the path for the next generation, I see you. You’ve opened doors, built tables, and created your own lane. It’s truly a pleasure to work alongside so many powerful, visionary women.

Fellas… we gotta step it up. They’ve got a whole month. We’ve got Father’s Day. 😂 Time to elevate, lead stronger, and move with purpose.

Respect where it’s due. Let’s all keep building.
