It is very easy to choose our own desires over God’s desires.

And while the mercy of God means He can reroute and redeem, there is often a cost. That cost can look different in different situations.

Sometimes, rerouting simply means a little bit of delay.

Although we loved the name Liam, God’s choice towers above every other choice.

He created.
He formed.
His breath runs through the child.
He knows him by name.

And so we chose to go with God’s desire over our own.

The more I walk through motherhood, the more I understand why God deemed this mission necessary. And the more I understand the visions He showed me.

Back to God’s heart.
Back to His will.
Back to His ways.

Because He is up to something.

And He is taking back all His seeds.

Journey to One (IV) - Birth Testimony

The morning of July 4th came and still no progress. Still measuring 4/5cm despite the interventions done so far. I was slowly becoming discouraged but praise God for all the people who were encouraging and praying for me. My husband being the most present one!

My preferred doctor was not on call that day, so another doctor came in to speak with me. She was also Nigerian (this is where the dream starts to come into play). She had come in to tell me the interventions that we had left before we had to opt for delivery via C section, which was the very thing I was dreading/scared of. Now let me preface this by saying that I am NOT against having a C section in any way. BIRTH IS BIRTH. And many of the miracle babies in my life have been delivered via c section. HOWEVER, because of what the Lord had shown and told ME over the course of my pregnancy, I KNEW I was NOT supposed to have one.

At one point after she suggested the next the intervention, I sighed heavily and said out loud to my husband, Doula, and sister in law “not another intervention again. I’m so tired” to which the doctor responded by giving me a very nasty attitude and said “you see that’s exactly what we are not going to do!” And proceeded to walk out the room with the nurse. Overtaken by confusion, I looked at everyone and said “umm did I say something wrong lol?” We were all going back and forth and requested for who else was on call because I was not about to be dealing with no attitude during this whole process. The other doctor on call was not someone I was familiar with so I declined and asked that they keep her….

Journey to One (III) - Birth Testimony

The second dose was completed and I was moved to the delivery room to start the induction. @livewithmjb called me to check in and I immediately burst out in tears because I was so scared and did not know what to expect. Quite frankly, I can’t even remember the order in which the process took place, but I know one involved a balloon catheter being inserted, which aided in getting me to 4/5cm along (depending on who was measuring), propofol, Pitocin and manually breaking my water. Having my doula @omowadoulaministry there by my side made the whole experience more bearable because she was able to advocate for me and educate me in real time along the way.

The contractions were still very much bearable at 4/5cm but for some reason I was not progressing along. 24 hours had gone by (morning of July 3rd) and I was still measuring 4/5cm. A little while after the pitocin was administered, I requested for the epidural before anything progressed too quickly and got out of hand 😅.
At this stage, I was sure that I would be further along and it was GO TIME as the doctor had said I should be ready to delivery by noon. Lo and behold, I was still stalling at 4/5cm.

I did not notify that many people of what was going on but somehow the Lord had me on people’s hearts and sent them to encourage me along the way. The whole of July 3rd looked like praying, sleeping, breathing through discomfort, laughing to stop from crying, more interventions, worshipping through my playlist, eating and hopefully waiting … but despite it all, I kept declaring what God had shown and told me throughout the journey and I never lost confidence that it will happen just as He declared, even though it did not feel like it in the moment
