This birthday was beyond anything I could have planned. Somewhere between the tears, laughter, dolphins, whales, shooting stars and an ocean glowing with bioluminescence… I felt something deeply: I remembered myself. And remembering means something different to me now. My birthday brought deep reflection around my car accident and brain injury. There was a time when remembering was literally taken away from me. Pieces of my life disappeared, things had to be relearned, and parts of myself had to be rediscovered. So today, remembering feels sacred. Remembering I’m alive. Remembering my joy. Remembering my gifts. Remembering what matters. Remembering who I am. I’ve been reflecting on why I’m still here and what I want to do with this precious life I’ve been given. I feel I’m here to LIVE. To love deeply. Create. Gather people. Turn pain into art. Dream impossibly BIG dreams. And hopefully, through remembering myself, help others remember themselves too. This birthday felt like that in real time. We cried tears of joy, laughed so hard it felt like a facelift 😂, danced to a very sexy “Sexyphone” 🎷, swam through underwater forests, saw dolphins and whales, watched shooting stars and witnessed the ocean GLOW. ✨ We sat in ceremony, released old stories, spoke our intentions aloud and witnessed one another’s BIG dreams. We also shared MAATE, the Yerba Mate beverage brand Octavio and I recently became co-founders of. 🧉 It felt symbolic entering a new year of life while celebrating something new we’re helping bring into the world. Community. Wellness. Creativity. Purpose. Entrepreneurship. PLAY. I want my life itself to be the art. Maybe transformation isn’t always becoming someone new. Maybe sometimes it’s remembering who we were before fear, survival and old stories made us forget. To every beautiful soul who took time off, said YES last minute and came to celebrate with me — thank you. You helped me remember myself. ❤️ I’m alive. I remember. And I intend to make this life count. ❤️‍🔥 #IRemember #EverythingIsPossible #JoyIsMedicine
