⚽Field trip! 🖤 LDCF families: join us Saturday, October 4th at 3 PM as the Chicago Stars @thechicagostars takes on Denver Summit FC @denversummit_fc at Northwestern Medicine Field.

The Chicago Stars are making some big changes to their team and ready to come out strong and in the Denver Summit's first season they're definitely making a name for themselves!

We're especially excited to cheer on Carson Pickett, Defender for the Summit, because there's nothing like watching your kid watch a pro who looks just like them 🥹

We'll be in the North Front Half, Section N3, with a group discount from our friends at GLASA - Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (the kids at their Camp Trek got to meet some of the players this summer!). Plus, it's a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with the Nuestra Ciudad promos, so it's shaping up to be a great event!

Books have the power to shape the way children see themselves — and the way they see others.

That’s why I’m always looking for stories that include characters with limb differences. Representation matters, not only for children who have limb differences, but for every child growing up in a diverse world.

These are four wonderful books that celebrate confidence, inclusion, resilience, and the many ways people move through life. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, educator, or simply building a more inclusive bookshelf, I hope these stories find their way into your home.

🧡 Day 20 of Limb Loss & Limb Difference Awareness Month

This week is Disability Book Week, a celebration of stories that center disabled characters, creators, and lived experiences. Books have a powerful way of shaping how our kids see themselves - and how they see others.

For kids with limb differences, finding a character who looks like them can be life‑changing. It builds confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging. And for kids who don’t share that experience, these stories open doors to empathy, understanding, and inclusive thinking.

Books that feature characters with disabilities reminds us that representation matters - not just in real life, but on the page, too.

Some of the reasons individuals came together to support the Limb Loss and Limb Difference community in Wisconsin this weekend!! 🧡🧡🧡 Together is where we find strength and connection!!

🩵 On Saturday we had the honor of welcoming Ryan ( @livingonehanded ) to Burn Monona to help lead kids camp!

Ryan was born with one arm and is an inspiration to anyone who meets him! He works out daily at Burn Verona with all of the amazing modifications the trainers come up with. Ryan hasn’t let anything stop him from crushing his goals both inside and outside of the gym! 👏🏽

After camp, Ryan talked to the kids, shared his story with us and reminded them that being different isn’t something to hide from- It’s something to be celebrated because Being Different is Awesome! 😎

📕 Ryan also read his book, “Being Different is Awesome”, signed copies for our Burn Kids, and reminded us all that no matter what makes you different, you are capable of doing incredible things!

Thanks for visiting us Ryan and showing us how you crush Burn Boot Camp while also reminding us to treat everyone with kindness!
