✨Senior Spotlight✨

Olivia Newman (she/her) is a Political Science and Dance double major from Rockport, MA.

Her piece “In Our Nature” explores human connection, conflict, and the paradox they create. How is it that we rely on such closeness, love, and support, but are simultaneously driven towards competition, violence, and hatred? How do these opposites exist together and how do they intertwine? What lies at the center of our true human nature? Are we meant to connect and love or to fight and harm? Is it possible to have one without the other, or are we endlessly bound to the tension between the two?

After graduation, Liv will go to Spain to teach English as a language assistance. Eventually she will come back to the U.S. and go to law school to become an immigration lawyer. She hopes to continue exploring the world, meeting new people, discovering her passions, and spreading love.

“I would like to thank my dancers for all their hard work, time and talent. I also want to thank Natalie Bett and Paul Besaw for their constant support and guidance. Lastly I want to thank my family for making me the person I am today. “
