Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, so here’s your reminder that spending time with friends matters. Confiding in others is one of the strongest protective factors against depression. People with strong social relationships have a 50% greater likelihood of survival. Spending time with friends shouldn't be the last thing to check off your list- it should be prioritized as part of your mental health care. So send the text, pick the date, and actually show up. 🤍

Sometimes I get tripped up switching between roles that feel so dichotomous. One day my job requires me to show up with doctoral level intellectual effort. The next day my job requires me to show up and deliver my appearance as the commodity.

Sometimes I study so late the night before a photo shoot that I wake up with dark circles and pimples. Sometimes I spend more time on photo shoots and fall short on my readings and school assignments.

Mostly, I’m just grateful I get to be part of two entirely different communities at the same time. And I’m always grateful for the understanding and support of those around me. 🤍
Anyone else juggling two very different worlds?
