Year 6 of shooting this style of portraits for Boston Ballet… in what I think is a rather universally flattering lighting style. Two days and 32 subjects later, that’s a wrap! 📸

Season 4!! It’s crazy how fast time flies. I am entering this season full of gratitude. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by phenomenal artists and to be inspired by colleagues, choreographers, musicians, coaches, compositions and more. What a dream job! I’m excited to continue learning and growing myself as an artist and a person! ❤️

A neighborhood collab in @foodandwine magazine! The Jericho Country Store is a big part of why we chose to buy our dear old house on the green in the center. It’s a gem!

Closing the 25/26 season • This season was very special and deeply fulfilling, challenging me in ways I never expected. I am proud of the growth that I have made through the hours of hard work and trust in the process. I learned so much about myself technically and artistically, each lesson shaping a better me. Beyond this, I am grateful to show up everyday and do what I love with the people I love.

Meet the dancer! Introducing Ballet Coast to Coast’s newest member, Daniel Durrett.

Daniel R. Durrett began his early dance training at Dr Lyrica Joy Ministries Ballet School, then trained at UpTown Arts for two years. Cincinnati Ballet’s Artistic Director Victoria Morgan offered Durrett a full scholarship to continue his training at the Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy. While attending the Houston Ballet summer intensive, he was invited to join Houston Ballet’s Second Company (HBII), and was promoted to the corps de ballet in 2016.

Durrett joined Boston Ballet as an artist of the Company in 2017. He was promoted to second soloist in 2022 and soloist in 2024.

He won first and second place awards at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) in Indianapolis and was a final round competitor at the YAGP finals in New York in 2013. In June 2015, Durrett received the gold medal in the Pre-Professional Division of the Indianapolis International Ballet Competition.

He is also the co-director of Ballet 22, a dance company based in Oakland, CA that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in ballet by producing and presenting works that break gender normative traditions.

Fun facts
- He’s an amazing photographer
- He’s a fraternal twin
- He played violin growing up

Follow him @dani_durrett and come see him and the rest of Ballet Coast to Coast perform in From Boston to Bay Harbor: A Night at the Ballet on June 20th at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts!
