Before the swirl of SDCC and Gen Con it was great to get a Disneyland day in! Anjuli and I joined Liz, Chris and Dan for a fantastic day at the park on Sunday. Lines were pretty short thanks to the World Cup. Always fun to unplug for a bit and share in the magic with friends.

REFLECT REST AND PLAN//
How staff in Bulgaria are finishing their year.

After a full season of ministry in Bulgaria this year, it has been great to get away as a team to reflect, to share, to rest and to plan.

At the beginning of this year, a church in America contacted us and offered to finance a real retreat for our staff team. It has been years since we have been able to afford such a time together.

Usually our in-person team meetings throughout the year are a day or two long and focused around making plans for the next ministry season. But with this financial gift we were able to slow down as a team and make extended time to hear from God and to enjoy one another’s company.

We spent four days together in the city of Vratza (north western Bulgaria). In the mornings we had extended time for prayer and reflection on the themes of giving God control, finding rest in God, being hungry and thirsty for God, and discovering that we are God’s beloved.

After our morning reflections, we had time as a team to share about what we had heard from God in the morning and to pray for one another.

In the afternoons we made plans for the fall semester (we are really excited for what we have planned!) and also to pray for the ministry of @bhssnow and the students we serve.

We also were able to take two day trips as a team to beautiful places in the area (a cave called “Ledenika” and the rock formations of “Belogradchik”).

We laughed a lot together and shared our hearts with one another and we truly experienced, as David said, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Ps 133:1).

I am really grateful for this team and the chance we had to spend time together. I am grateful for God’s gracious community that helped make something like this possible for us! And I am grateful to God for meeting with us and leading us during this time.
