This time last week we got married🤍✨🥹 we were celebrating with our family and friends and experiencing the BEST day. There are SO many good bits to share still but here are some highlights. Still on cloud nine and don’t want to get down. There are no words to express just how magical this day was from start to end. We laughed, we cried and we DANCED ❤️‍🔥 will never ever get over this day - even if I did end up wasted (start as you mean to continue I guess 🤣🤪🫠).

WE DID IT!!

We’ve just been awarded National Lottery Community Funding — and I genuinely couldn’t be prouder.

Not just because of what this funding means for SoulKind, but because of everyone who has helped us get here. Everyone who believed in the idea. Everyone who showed up, shared a story, walked a mile, opened a door, made an introduction, gave their time, their money or simply said: keep going.

Because the truth is, bringing something like SoulKind to life is hard.

There have been plenty of moments when I’ve questioned the vision. Even questioned whether SoulKind should exist at all — after investing so much time, energy and, if I’m honest, money into making it happen.

It would have been very easy to walk away.

But I’ve always believed that resilience isn’t something you’re simply born with. You have to go through some rough shit. You have to persevere. Find a reason to keep going. And somehow keep believing, even when your chips are down.

So this feels pretty bloody significant.

A credit to the team. To everyone who has stood alongside me. And, dare I say, a little credit to myself for sticking with it and delivering the vision I had rattling around in my head all those years ago.

And this is just the beginning.

This funding gives us the opportunity to go further, reach more people and create more of the mentor-led adventures and human stories that sit at the heart of SoulKind.

I couldn’t be prouder.

And more than anything, I’m excited about where we go next.

It started with a simple belief: that people who have been through difficult things shouldn’t have to navigate what comes next alone.

SoulKind is a community built around people, stories and shared adventure - supporting those who have faced adversity and trauma, while bringing a much wider community alongside them.

We’re here to help people reconnect with themselves, with others and with the outdoors.

So why adventure?

Because we believe getting outdoors can change how you see yourself and the world around you - and in turn help you to start moving forward.

There’s something about walking a path together, sharing an experience, being somewhere different and having the space to talk.

It doesn’t fix everything. But it can open up a different way of seeing things.

And sometimes that’s where change starts.

So what do we actually do?

Ultimately we are storytellers with our own lived experiences. And out of that came an idea - to create mentor-led adventures for others who have faced adversity and life-changing trauma.

We bring together people with shared lived experience and create the space to learn from one another - all supported by our mentors and extended leadership team.

Sometimes that means walking. Sometimes climbing, paddling, camping or simply sitting around a campfire talking and eating.

For our third SoulKind WalktheWays fundraiser, we’re walking 127 miles along the Cornish Celtic Way, to raise funds and awareness for our Mentor-Led Adventures — supporting individuals who have faced life-changing trauma.

But this year we want to try something different. We’re not asking you to dig into your pockets (although kind donations are obvs welcome), we’re asking you to help us reach more people.

Our target is 10,000 followers.

Because the more people who discover SoulKind, follow our stories and understand what we’re trying to build, the greater our reach and potential impact can be.

Tickets for The River Summit on 4th September are going fast and we really do not want you to miss this one!

This year we have four programmes running across Henley Town Hall, and each one has been designed to do something a little different.

The Council Chambers goes deeper, with workshops and conversations designed to get into the detail, ask the awkward questions and actually work some things out together.

The updated* Queen Elizabeth II Hall brings together scientists, lawyers, activists, politicians, industry leaders and citizen scientists for a day of panels, talks and debate on the issues that matter most in water right now.

We also believe that art has a vital role to play in all of this. Science and policy can tell us what is happening to our rivers. Art makes us feel it. This year creative work sits at the heart of the Summit, because the people who have always been closest to nature are often the ones who express it most powerfully. From filmmakers to painters to storytellers, wild art and loud truth go hand in hand. 🎨

The Testing the Waters Consortium showcases what happens when technology meets grassroots action, with real data from real rivers collected by the people who know them best.

The Committee Room where we can really get stuck in with learning and participation.

And in the evening, the Rivers of Film Festival takes over, because some stories are best told on screen. More details to come >> 🎬

This year we are particularly excited to have some brilliant investigative journalists joining us, bringing the kind of rigorous, independent scrutiny that water in this country urgently needs. Expect honest conversations and a few uncomfortable and surprising truths.

[PR] SHARE THIS 🙏 I joined a @onplanetpatrol cleanup activity in London, a UK non-profit that turns everyday people into citizen scientists through its free app and community waterway surveys.

You can get involved by logging litter you find, reporting sewage spills, and recording water quality data like pH, temperature and nutrient levels to help build a clearer picture of pollution across rivers, canals and other local waterways.

The idea is simple: if you see it, record it, and add to real environmental data that can support action.

Planet Patrol runs activities across the UK, so if you’re interested in local environmental action, it’s worth checking their app and website for nearby clean-ups, Water Patrol kits, or observational surveys.

What an amazing honour to be recognised by such a fierce publication @divamagazine and in the company of accomplished and dynamic humans who I much admire. I am humbled to appear next to these names for this celebration.

DIVA describe this list as an opportunity to “spotlight the incredible work of LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people across all sectors of life.” Editor, Roxy Bourdillon, calls The DIVA Power List “a beacon of hope in these troubling times.”

Everything I do I do for the collective freedoms, rights and safeties of not only the trans+ community, but queer people, women, and any vulnerable and marginalised identity. Because our causes are just and we deserve to live in peace.

As I said recently to mark the one year anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling: our authenticity, joy and excellence are what will help us to win against this wave of fascism that we find ourselves collectively living through and still thriving in spite of.
