My first familiar face in a new city became the reason I have so many more. Achalugo for all seasons

And who knew we had Kdrama in common? Now it’s hugs and planning Kdrama sleepovers 😂

But at the core of it all is family - the one you choose.
This one, I chose.
The catch is, they also chose me back.

So yes, I’m happy.

The sun is shining.

And God is good.

“Eyan l’asọ” — the Yorubas say people are your covering. Your shelter. Your wealth. My mum has said this for years, but this weekend, I lived it.

Anu called me “The Convener,” and while he wasn’t wrong, he didn’t know that just three weeks ago, I told my sister Annchellie I was bracing myself for a quiet, maybe sad, graduation — with my parents unable to attend and maybe two or three friends at best.

But then, the flights came in — from Manchester, Atlanta, Boston etc. Friends drove 5 to 13 hours from Detroit, Indianapolis etc

None of it convenient or casual. It was intentional, family and love showing up.

I’ve cried more than I care to admit because truly, whatever whispered prayer I made about community, God heard and over delivered.

The Yorubas also say - Ọrẹ kan kì í bá ni ṣeré fún ọdún méẹ̀dọ́gbọ̀n— the same friends don’t play for 20 years. Maybe I’m delulu or selfish but I pray that we be the exception. The 1% that beats the odds.

It takes at least 3 hours to explore the Louvre and honestly, you’ll still feel like you barely scratched the surface.

Entry costs about €22.50, and if you really want to make the most of it, go early in the morning to beat the crowds and soak it all in.
