Things I didn’t know before getting pregnant:
that “morning sickness” can last until week 20 and make you feel like you’re slowly losing yourself.
that your body doesn’t fully belong to you anymore. it feels like a lottery, and you just hope you get lucky in at least some parts of it.
that you can think you’re not an anxious person, and then pregnancy introduces you to a level of anxiety you didn’t even know existed in you.
that hormones can change your brain in the strangest ways. you forget words, mix things up, cry over the smallest things, and sometimes don’t recognize yourself.
that everyone has an opinion about how pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and motherhood should look and hearing yourself through all that noise becomes one of the most important skills.
that sometimes you have to fight to be heard by doctors and finding the right one matters so much more than I realized.
that some body changes are really hard to accept, and some come with surprisingly sweet benefits.
that you can try to do everything right, read everything, plan everything, prepare for everything, and still life just happens the way it happens.
that pregnancy can be beautiful and brutal at the same time, and both things can be true🤍
