By God’s grace and the hands of the most incredible neurosurgeons, my surgery went great. For so long I carried fear about this day — and yet on the very morning of surgery, I felt an overflow of peace and comfort wash over me. A peace I haven’t felt in years. I know without a doubt it came from Jesus.

I was laughing on FaceTime with @bailey.fudala as I arrived at the hospital and slipped into my gown. I was cracking jokes with the nurses and doctors as they wheeled me into the operating room — fully aware of every detail around me. I kept reciting Isaiah 46:4 over and over until the moment I went under.

Waking up to my parents’ voices, realizing all my senses were still with me… the gratitude was overwhelming.
Real shoutout to the nurses who bantered with me at all hours & the hot random neurosurgeon who checked in on me at 4am to ask what my name is & what year it is. Miss u.
….
Recovery was hard. My family held me up — literally — grabbing both sides of me when walking or doing anything on my own felt so challenging. Returning to Hawai‘i, I laid low because this recovery process is long, and honestly, I’m still walking through it. I’ve been quietly healing, and taking things slowly — but my community has made this journey lighter. A core memory was surprising them one by one at worship night, as they each did double takes followed by tight squeezes, smiles, & tears while we praised Jesus.

To everyone who reached out, prayed for me, checked in on me, or sent recovery gifts — you have played a real role in my healing. You gave my heart peace when I needed it most.
There’s so many more of you I wish I could tag but there’s a limit on insta.

Thank you. Thank you, Jesus, for carrying me through.
