Catchers, we must be aware of the situation and understand what our job is when we are called to act!

@dbacks catcher @gabriel__mo13 does such a great job combining quick actions with elite athleticism to make the play and quite literally save the game.

Nobody knew it at that time, but the very next hitter would single to centerfield, likely scoring two runs. The D-backs eventually won the game by two runs. This play was the difference in the game.

This is a prime example of why we need to be prepared for every possible play.

How do we prepare for a play like this? PRACTICE!

Too often we forget to practice the tough low-occurrence plays. But, when the situation arises, we need to be capable of executing the play for our team.

We’ve argued that youth sports needs more than a stream, it needs to be discovered 🥎

@ESPN expanding TV coverage of the @llsbws put that thesis to the test when this year’s event racked up a billion viewing minutes; a 48% YoY increase.

Some more numbers:
- 15.5M viewers watched at least one minute
- Title game avg. 1.3M viewers; second-best broadcast on record
- Avg. viewers across LLSWS, regional games up 4% YoY
- Avg. viewers across ABC/ESPN games up 16% YoY

While discussing @nflflag ratings back in August, Kyle Scott explained how someone browsing live television can discover an event they weren’t looking for.

"The internet has disintermediated TV relevance, certainly broadcast TV, cable relevance, especially with younger generations. But it still has this passive viewing ability especially for these newer events that doesn't exist. So much of sports is about passive viewership. There's something about just being able to put on a TV channel in the background, at a bar. Certainly during the summer that drives up ratings."

That passive viewership also brings with it new fans.

All 22 World Series games reached traditional television networks this year directly connecting to our discussion about getting youth sports in front of people who weren’t actively searching for it.

"I think you still need the broadcast and cable networks to be able to inject something into the public consciousness like that. The premium sports events still need to think about those partnerships."

Who knew this little girl doing a 360° swing with a plastic bat would fall in love with the game of softball and eventually play in the Little League World Series championship game. A dream come true!! 🙏🙏

There are a few ways we can dominate the top of the zone (ie. top rail):

1. First and foremost, we have to know our pitchers. We have to know if they can hit their spot if we call for a high pitch, and also what their mechanics look like when they are about to miss up.

2. We have to be in a stance that allows us to make a posture adjustment while receiving the pitch. If we stay low in our stance, we will be consistently attacking a ball above our head. Not only does this make it harder to control the ball, but it also looks horrible to the umpire behind us.

3. We must make direct and clean moves to get our glove above the ball before pitch contact. This move should happen while our glove elbow is bent and close to our chest. This helps us make a more aggressive and controlled move while extending our arm and driving our glove down through the ball towards the strike zone.

4. We have to find a consistent stopping point for our dunk move. Too much downward movement and it looks like we are fixing a pitch Too little or too slow and we lose the ability to blur the lines between a ball and a strike.

Consistency with our body and glove moves on a high pitch will help us secure more strikes at the top of the strike zone. This takes work.

Be a wall behind the plate and you will earn your pitcher's trust. I probably should have blocked the change-up, but my shortstop instincts kicked in 😬😜 @reagainz1 any suggestions?!

So this athlete’s mom has hired me to photograph her every year and her mom has been one of my biggest supporters. She actually just had her photoshoot earlier in the summer but then they won the NJ state little league softball championship which in my opinion had to be properly documented. I told her mom to come over when I was already set up for another photoshoot and bring the banner and we’d just get a quick photo because how can we not document this but I also acknowledge she had just paid for a photoshoot. This was a you’ve always supported me so I will support you situation giving an athlete their moment. No smoke no distractions just simple and powerful.

This game can make you go a little crazy at times. I had 3 solid barrels during the Little League Softball World Series turn into outs/errors. Sometimes barrels turn into outs or errors, but you can't let that get you down. Applaud the defense for making a great play and start prepping for your next task on the field! Be proud of your barrels, no matter what happens. Eventually those will fall for hits and the softball Gods will start to reward you for your positive attitude and hard work! 😉
