“Life goes on // but I’m gone // ‘cause I die without you.”

pov: you waited over a week to make this post so you wouldn’t have to admit the show’s over 😔

If I had a nickel for every time I finally got a dream of little Noelle’s to come true, I’d have like, a few nickels, but that wouldn’t make any of them less special. I went into this audition with no voice and a video of myself singing, hoping that things could work themselves out and I’d at least get out in the ensemble. To get cast as Joanne was so unexpected and empowering, and I still don’t know what to do with myself. Joanne and Noelle are two very different people, but I was so honored and happy to bring my experience as a Black lesbian into hers. It has been utterly freeing and wonderful and I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive cast and crew to be there for that.

Speaking of cast and crew - this cast was PHENOMENAL. I feel so lucky to have worked with everyone and had a little window into their lives as they have had into mine. I’ve had so much fun with you all this summer, and I am so lucky to have made art with you.

This show was everything I was hoping for and then some. Every moment with every person in this show is something I will never forget. I’m so glad I went out for this despite my own obstacles. Just goes to show you: “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.” And who could possibly want to miss this?

Hanging up the phone,
Joanne Jefferson ❤️💚💛💙
