This week’s visual art events across the island of Ireland! Another busy, arty week in store as the year begins to come to a close If you would like to get your art meet-up, sketchbook club or comic jam added to our calendar, please feel free to send us the deets such as date, time, location and entry fee and links to your groups socials or website via email to submissions@emeraldisleartists.org . There’s no cost to be featured as we love to mutually support other members of the irish art community. We’re particularly looking for meetups and events outside of Dublin and Belfast (though we love to hear about those too) as we’re really struggling to find many events happening in Connacht and Munster. Even if you don’t personally run the event, feel free to let us know of any fun ones you know of! We love finding new events to support! P.s. we won’t knowingly share any corporate events or conventions that are known to be abusive/unkind to artists, that are discriminatory to artists/attendees or any events that utilise AI in their advertising/posts so please bear that in mind 😊 PPS - We’re not actually hosting any of these events ourselves - we’re just sharing our fellow art communities events and opportunities as mutual support :) we’ve had some confusion about this lol Have fun! Hope you can discover an event you didn’t know was near you! #irishartscene #irishartists #arteventsireland

Time Travel Punks: Tag the Timeline 🎸🎶🕙 A challenge to test my storytelling and illustration skills to design my own comic. The first steps, brainstorming subjects which interested me, Music, Art, Marvel Superhero’s. Then diving into possible combinations for these and the process identifying what would interest my audience and influence the people of Belfast. Discovering the perfect elements of blending music, street art and time travel into a thrilling visual narrative. Appealing to fans of urban culture and graffiti, to those inspired by punk ethos and those who love historical and fantastical storytelling. Their artistry becomes activism with music and graffiti serving as tools to restore suppressed moments in time and resist cultural erasure 🙌 This time traveling adventure harvested inspirations from stories such as (Back to the Future). To give this a range of powerful energy, gathered the language of individual art directions increased the power of the visuals, giving the journey of this comic multiversal vibes similar to the exploration of worlds such as (Spiderman Across the Spider-verse) 🔥 “Belfast punk folk band discovers a strange amplifier in a derelict mural lined alley in the Titanic Quarter. Their first gig accidentally opens a portal via amplified guitar riffs and banjo strums. Murals start to come to life and they get sucked into a portal, taking them on a historical time travel journey and highlights how music acts like a bridge. (Punks, folk, drums soothe conflict, animate art, and heal walls.) Despite my outcome sadly not being selected to be published, this experience was still a mind-blowing blast of creativity and exploration. Big thank you to @localcolourcomics for supporting me and for your fantastic feedback 🌟 #graphicdesign #design #art #illustration #graphicdesigner #comic #comicbook #designer #comicart #bookillustration #illustrator #colour #creative #music #graffiti #artwork #artist #streetart #graphics #timetravel #multiverse #punk #drawing #characterdesign #designinspiration #history #rocknroll #mixedmedia #belfast
