🌟 A huge congratulations to Lochie! 🌟

Yesterday, Lochie was recognised as a nominee for Victorian Youth Volunteer of the Year — and what an incredible achievement that is.

While he didn’t take home the award, being recognised alongside some truly incredible and exceptional young volunteers from right across Victoria is something to be incredibly proud of. ❤️

Lochie gives so much of his time, energy and passion to SYN, and we’ve had the absolute privilege of seeing him grow, step up in a leadership team role and make a real difference to our organisation and the young people around him.

To be nominated at a state level is an achievement in itself — and a wonderful recognition of the impact young people can have when they’re given the opportunity to lead, contribute and make their voices heard.

Congratulations Lochie — we’re so proud to have you as part of SYN! 👏❤️

little over 2 weeks ago, these legends (and plenty not pictured) helped carry me through 24 hours straight of radio. thats right, from noon to noon, i sat behind a mic and yapped with anyone and everyone to help raise money for @synmedia as part of their radiothon. we ended up adding about 2 grand to syn's total, which was more than producers @b____etty @sameerahsen_14, and i thought was possible.

from those 24 hours straight of radio, i learned a lot. i learned that my limit is probably about 20 hours of radio (okay maybe less), that too much bongos can be bad for you, how to dj (kindve), about the magic of the 1 am show, about shoegaze and dreampop and about madame brussels and the chaos of the f1 season. but most of all, i learned that the future of media isn't as bleak as we think it is. i met incredible writers, readers, and music nerds, i did radio with the best personalities on air today and had fun with creative minds that need to be heard to be believed. it was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life (not literally my eyes were closing for most of it) ... and while itd be hard to do it again, i dont regret doing it in the slightest. in fact, im glad i did.

i did it... partly for the bit, but mostly bc i love everything that syn is and what it stands for. its amplifying youth voices, its allowing those voices to talk about work that inspires them, and its a space for our local music scene to thrive.

syn isnt perfect, nor is it pretty, but what it is is an institution that should be protected and kept alive for future generations of media personalities, broadcasters, journalists, pundits, musicians, and musicheads alike.
