Seven years of @newyorkcomiccon with my boys. Another successful dinner of ramen with @graceryan86. A sleepy train ride of decompression.

It's this young man's birthday!

Wogan Mader, the first someone to need me ❤️ Happy 19th birthday! This post is so late because I picked my phone up three times today to get to this and was distracted.

We just got home from dinner at @redonionwoodstock and everyone's settled and relaxing.

It's wild parenting a human who is freshly an adult.

Feeling all of the human emotions in this parenting journey, @logan.manor22 and you know EXACTLY what I mean by that.

Let's ride my dude 🏍️ We'll keep growing together.

Today Dylan Manor is 15 years old. I know that 13 marks the official beginning of the teenage years, 16 is considered sweet for some reason, and 18 is the gateway from childhood into adulthood. But there is something I find especially meaningful about the age of 15.

When Dylan was younger, he loved to stare at the moon. I have always loved the intuition children have, the way they gravitate toward what feels magical to them. There is one night I remember clearly from many years ago. We were sleeping in the living room for some reason, and I pretended to be asleep, hoping the boys would finally settle down. Dylan, who was around four at the time, got up, pulled the covers up over me and over Logan, and gently gave us both kisses. Then he walked over to the window, looked up at the sky, and softly said, “Good night, my moon.”

Because of that, I cannot help but tie Dylan’s 15th birthday to his connection with the moon.

Fifteen marks the full moon in the lunar cycle. The full moon is associated with visibility, culmination, heightened emotion, and revelation. It feels especially meaningful to know that shortly after this year’s February full moon, Dylan entered the world on February 3 under a new moon. New moons are often linked to fresh starts, pure potential, and a strong drive to initiate and explore. A natural go getter. All of these qualities feel deeply reflective of who Dylan is.

He has always been his own version of human. I have never known Dylan to conform to anyone else’s idea of normal. He has always been my wild, outgoing, animated, sweet, and deeply considerate boy.

(Continued in comments cause I guess narrative this long isn't for IG):

Oh, I LOVE this trend! “2016 is the new 2026…”while I have no idea what that means, I’m happy to share snippets of life from then.

I was transitioning in many ways. I was:
Determining who my actual friends were
Getting my second bachelors degree that spoke to my heart and soul (psychology) and working at @stockadetavern
Parenting two littles - and we had a LOT of fun
Exploring life in the ways I could, cause I didn’t have much money so exploring far wasn’t an option
Eating delicious food
Drinking WAY too much alcohol
Laughing and performing nonsensical acts, with what felt like EVERYone in Kingston
Still enjoying brunch at @duobistrokingston

…and like 2025, 2016 was deeply challenging for my heart and emotions and incredibly rewarding for my personal growth and capacity and resilience.

What a decade it was!

My sweet boys! We all ordered mocktails and I raised my glass to cheers these two. Dylan has taken up playing bass guitar and self motivated, had me sign him up for a Wild Earth program, has stuck with mixed chorus and has been so communicative when it comes to his plans and planning. His Motivation has created an ease in my life, which I am so grateful for and happy for him to be living life quite fully! I get to support him in the things that bring him joy.

Logan got to college and already had friends which does not surprise me! He got himself into Merrimack, is on a division one track team, goes to class and studies (wish this was a given but it’s not), and has been cooking for his roommates and some of the other young people who live in his dorm!

So, last night at dinner, I wanted to cheer them on for who they are and how they are and what they do and how they do it!

I told them that while we are surrounded by love, if not always then often, our little trio of the three of us is the most precious relationship I’ve ever had in my entire life!

Some of you have gotten to watch them grow from young and little people into who they are today, some people only remember them when they were littles, and some people know them in the present form.

These boys have gone through so much and I’m really proud of how they show up in life and how their outlook is so full of love. Only the three of us deeply know how the things that have happened in our lives has greatly affected us. Wading through the mess to get into joy with perseverance, both soft and tough love and trying to figure out what we all need at any given moment in time.

Someone was asking my about parenting style (I ain’t perfect and I’ve judged and been judged)…I just place myself in their shoes, since I can recall being all of the ages they’ve experienced. It’s been really helpful and a great way to reframe moments.

We don’t always get it right, and a sincere follow up of apologies when we hurt one another has gotten us really far.

If you don’t know, ya don’t.

So proud of my little-bigs!

Cheers to our mistakes and how we learn from and repair them!
