Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭ I’ve been thinking about this verse a lot lately. I pray that I can overflow with this kind of love towards everyone, not just under certain conditions or only if they’ve done right by me, but always. That’s what living with Jesus and abiding in Him is about, serving others with the overflow of love He pours out onto you, expecting nothing in return. Living from a place where no one owes you anything is so freeing. Why? Because I owe no one anything except love, and it was the Father’s good pleasure to give me the kingdom by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, so He gave me all things. I’m complete in Him. Perfectly complete, lacking nothing. Now, I’m not driven by the needs of this world. I don’t need to hold others to certain expectations or wonder why someone did me wrong. I don’t need encouragement from others, because I’m already loved and seen by the Creator of all things. I pray I can fully grasp this truth and run with it. God is good.
