Missing my nephews shouting around me while I paint, but feeling great to be back from the Mediterranean sea and finish up my summer painting!

Thank you @loladelfresno for the peace I always find in your amazing studio and the beautiful video. ❤️🌈

CREATIVE AND MENTAL HEALTH LAB
This month we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month

Joining us is special guest Federico Galavis from the City of Santa Monica Arts Commission @federicogalavis

Where: Building Bridges Art Exchange, Bergamot Station Arts Center,
2525 Michigan Ave. F2, Santa Monica, California

When: Our upcoming LAB is Thursday, May 23rd at 1:30pm. Space is limited, please RSVP at buildingbridgesax@gmail.com.

LAB is a multilingual community gathering that offers a series of monthly gatherings to artists, creatives and art practitioners. All are welcome. LAB offers a casual, access-centered creative space for artists, creative community members, and art practitioners to connect, share work, share ideas, and meet. This is a space where we can all gather to discuss, learn, and enjoy each other’s company. LAB was born in February 2023 out of an overwhelming response to BBAX community workshops and events, as well as our writing and textile workshops organized July and August 2022.

Federico Galavis is a Venezuelan-American artist currently residing in Los Angeles. Growing up in Caracas with an architect father and an astronomical physicist doctor mother, Galavis was exposed to the captivating world of design and patterns from an early age. His art is profoundly influenced by his upbringing and his home country's rich artistic heritage. He employs a modernist style in his work, skillfully blending elements of fauvism, surrealism, and cubism. He fearlessly experiments with a diverse range of mediums, including oils, spray paints, and textured materials, while embracing unconventional canvas sizes and shapes. Through his art, he implores humanity to rebel and liberate itself, offering insightful commentary on human consciousness, equality, inclusivity, and their socio-political implications.
