The best thing running ever gave me is the people, and @chimarathon weekend proved it. I know that sounds like a job interview answer. BUT ACTUALLY. This weekend put all my worlds in one place: • My @team2endaids crew, who I get to see in person all the time • @kathmclark who i see at the dog park all the time but never put together that she runs with T2 lolol • @runtoohard, who I see every damn Tuesday • @kofuzi run club, who mostly live in my Discord and Strava • And all the folks I “know from Instagram” who I finally met IRL. Confirmed: not AI. Or like really good at pretending they’re not?? Who’s to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ On Global Running Day I posted a video talking about how running made the city seem a bit smaller. And after sharing my story on here and meeting so many new people, I realize just how small it can be. If we met this weekend and I didn’t get a pic with you, that’s on me. A veces no nos aferramos a lo que tenemos, sino a lo que imaginamos que todavía podría llegar a ser. A esa relación que algún día iba a cambiar. A ese proyecto que prometía tanto. A esa versión de nosotras que tenía otros planes. A ese futuro que construimos tantas veces en nuestra mente que terminamos sintiéndolo como una realidad. Y quizá por eso soltar duele tanto. Porque no solo estamos despidiéndonos de lo que vivimos, sino también de todo lo que esperábamos vivir. Nuestra mente busca certezas, explicaciones, garantías de que lo que viene será mejor. Pero ¿cómo tomar una decisión cuando no sabemos qué sucederá después? Tal vez ahí comienza uno de nuestros mayores aprendizajes: dejar de exigirle al futuro una garantía para permitirnos avanzar. Mira lo que sucede con los árboles en otoño. No se aferran a sus hojas por todo el tiempo que les tomó hacerlas crecer. Tampoco necesitan saber exactamente cómo será la próxima primavera. Simplemente atraviesan una transformación. Y nosotras también podemos hacerlo. No tienes que olvidar lo vivido, negar lo que sentiste ni convencerte de que todo fue maravilloso. Puedes reconocer que algo fue importante y aceptar que ya no tiene el mismo lugar en tu presente. Porque cerrar un ciclo no siempre significa que dejaste de querer algo. A veces significa que comenzaste a elegirte de una manera diferente. It’s RACE WEEK!! 🏃🏻‍♀️❤️ And I am overwhelmed with so much excitement and love from everyone around me. I met @lolavidafit earlier this year when we were both selected for the ambassador program for @napervillewomenshalfmarathon, and it’s amazing how the running community can bring people into your life who truly impact you in ways you never expected. Lola, thank you for an AMAZING training season. We’ve tackled so many miles, emotions, highs, lows, and everything in between. I know Sunday is going to be so much fun, and I can’t wait for what’s to come with you! “She gets me and I get her.” And honestly, that’s what matters. ❤️ I hope everyone gets to experience that ONE person who shows up for you during training and on race day—the person who keeps you going, believes in you, and makes the hard days a little easier. Introducing… my @asics Superblast 3! 👟✨ And THAT’S A WRAP! Our last long run before the Chicago Marathon is officially in the books! 🏃🏻‍♀️💨 I got my 8 miles in with my bestie @lolavidafit, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better running partner throughout this training season. The Chicago Marathon has changed my life in so many ways. Since 2022, it has become so much more than a race, it has become part of my journey to becoming a better version of myself.
